Hi everyone,

As noted in a previous thread ABC2 has decided to drop its replay broadcasts of the State League Football games.

ie WAFL on Monday, SANFL on Tuesday, VFL on Wednesday.

And what has replaced your favourite league on Wednesday Night
according to the recent program guide .... then end of day test pattern.

This leaves SANFL, WAFL & VFL fans interstate now denied any free TV access to matches.

Also those in tied up Saturday afternoons can no longer get a replay of their local league.

We are also denied the opportunity to look at other leagues around Australia

This is a small but important backward step for the state leagues moving towards further media insignificance.

PLEASE ACT ... INVEST FIVE MINUTES OF YOUR TIME INTO THE LEAGUE YOU ALL LOVE.

Please pass on your thoughts via the following web site

http://www.abc.net.au/tv/contact/abc2_form.htm

Don't do nothing .... nothing will change.

Regards
LLF

Another one to the list. Utter crap Sydneycentric decision. Bit like the Channel 9 boss that gave the GF rights to CH10 out of pure ignorance.

I just wanted to express my disgust at your decision to not continue with weekly replays of VFL, SANFL and WAFL matches each week.

It's really disappointing that you decided to deny football fans a chance to see some action from the states other than where they live.

All three competitions are of a great standard and your refusal to replay these games on ABC2 means that they will not receive any interstate exposure.

I really do hope that you re-think your decision.

Just received ths as a response in my email inbox. Hopefully you all have received something similar. Lets see what these clowns have to say...

Thanks for your email to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. This automatic response is to acknowledge that your mail has been received and has been allocated the reference number C10988-08. Where requested, a detailed response will follow. The ABC endeavours to respond to such complaints within four weeks of receipt. However, please be aware that due to the large volume of correspondence we receive, and the complex nature of some enquiries, responses may at times take longer than this.

Your email will be addressed by ABC Audience & Consumer Affairs. If your complaint is about a matter of personal taste or preference, Audience & Consumer Affairs will ask the manager responsible for the program to provide you with a response. If your complaint raises a serious editorial issue - such as factual inaccuracy, lack of balance, or inappropriate content - your complaint will be investigated by Audience & Consumer Affairs. Audience & Consumer Affairs is a separate unit within the ABC, independent of program areas, and assesses complaints against the requirements set out in the ABC's Charter, Code of Practice and Editorial Policies.

Thank you for giving the ABC the opportunity to respond to your concerns. A fact sheet about the ABC's complaint handling procedures can be viewed as a PDF on this web page: http://www.abc.net.au/corp/pubs/documents/audience_complaint.pdf.

Yours sincerely,
ABC Audience & Consumer Affairs.

I sent a request to ABC2 a couple of weeks ago, to put up video streams of the VFL/SANFL/WAFL games or make downloadable copies available online. Not as good as watching on TV but better than nothing. They said they'd consider it (email response below), so might be worth doing the same if you're interested via this link: http://www.abc.net.au/tv/abctv/contact.htm.

Thank you for your email.

While there are currently no plans to make VFL, SANFL or WAFL matches available online, please be assured that I will forward your comments to the head of TV Sport so he is made aware of your interest.

Thank you for taking the time to write.

Kind regards

Matthew Galvin
