Wow looks like the club is really stepping up its efforts this year to have a competitive VFL list, just saw on socials we signed Phillips, Ford and Woewodin.

What happened with Eddie Ford, he looked like he could become anything early on and then he dropped completely off the radar

I think was plagued by injuries. Still going through a foot injury atm. But hopefully has better luck than Curtis Taylor last year

If Tom McGuane doesn't get the last SSP spot with the crows, is it possible he could end up on our VFL team?
If we have a spot. he may decide to stick in the SANFL. We'll have to wait and see
We may have 2-3 available. They may leave them for any promotions from the train ons.

Tosh Lennon. Hopefully he gets a train on spot at least. He drives from Geelong three times a week to attend training.
There's a road from Geelong to KMG?

FMD why didn't someone tell this Ollie Henry!

Highly Doubtful

I say most likely at Moment he stays in SA and play for Crows in the SANFL

Yeah, I think he got cut after xmas break
Has some good traits, but prob needs to work on his running. He hasnt been back in footy very long so its understandable.
Might need to play Local/Amauter 1st

He was last year but only played the one year or half the year coming off tennis- so clearly doesn’t yet have a footy body atm. But another year local and building up his body will do him some good

I love that there is a pathway for boys like this now.

Wasn't that long ago that the chances of him making a career out of footy at this point were less than zero.

Obviously there's a big gap between where he is now and landing at an AFL club, but there's a way.

Maybe but maybe he'd prefer to be in Melbourne. Saying that, I suppose he will have to take whatever is on offer.
I assume he will enter the MSD if he doesn't get the SSP spot with the crows.

So we have a Millane, a Varcoe, a Perryman, a Woewodin, a Lokan and a Teakle join the club? All Collingwood connected albeit Teakle is a stretch but he was an SSP train on lol
A lonie

Sounds like it basically the same categories as it is for AFL.

To become a Cat B AFL rookie, you have to be NGA, alternate sports and it sounds like they're adding the ability to add any indigenous not listed player.
Just had it confirmed. It is a bit similar to the AFL (where you can have 6 Cat A, and 2 Cat B), with the VFL, you can have 2 Cat B, and they sit outside the normal development list. - Which explains why clubs can have 32 players (30 + 2 Cat B)

So our list may look like currently: You can have 15 primary, 17 development (15 Cat A)

Development lists are aged 22yr or younger, so in saying that.

Primary: (16/15) This doesn't fit.. I forgot Bennetts so had to add him in..

Ben DeBolfo
Harry Kennedy
Brady Grey
Josh Browne
Liam Hude
Harry Mahoney
Michael Lewis
Zavier Maher
Oskar Faulkhead
Charlie McCartin
Taj Woewodin
Brynn Teakle
Will Phillips
Eddie Ford
Ed Perryman
Josh Bennetts

Development (Cat A) - 15/15? May be one available. I'm not convinced Quaynor is guranteed a contract yet.

Ryan Eyre
Angus Sievers (still 22 until end of the year)
Remy MacLean
Conor Willis
Ned Byrne
Max Mahoney
Zai Millane
Oscar Lonie
Nick Thompson
Rod Ali
Jos Landy
Xavier Laverty
Tadhg McCarthy
Luke Quaynor?
Jake Watts

Cat B: (2 Max)
Hamish Collins
Robert Varcoe

That feels like a stronger primary list than normal or is that wishful thinking on my behalf?

Def feels stronger.

Last years primary list:

Glover
De Bolfo
Taylor
Kennedy
Grey
Wilson
Browne
Mulvogue
Macdonald (though he left early)
Hude
Mason
Bennetts
Mahoney

I realised I had forgotten Bennetts in my list above, so now I'm wondering how we can have 16 primary... Maybe I'm just assuming Grey will go around again..
I assume if you've been on an afl list, you are a primary list player and can't be development, no matter your age.

It seems rather generous that clubs could take players from other state leagues and merely list them as Cat B Rookies (VFL), simply because they're indigenous, but in the case of Collins and Varcoe that appears to be what has happened! If they were quite well regarded I can't imagine the SANFL clubs that have lost them would be very happy about it!

I certainly hope Brady Grey is playing on, because he was very good for us last year, and (despite bringing in some ex-AFL recruits) there's not a lot of experienced types on that list. I think he'd be the strongest candidate to captain the side, and can't think who'd get the nod if he didn't.
