Simpkin - spent most of the game down back but we also gave him some time on the ball. He was always physical at the contest and never took a backwards step.

Templeton - drifted in and out of the game. He played wing, on the ball and forward. He looked quite dangerous in the forward half and probably could have kicked a couple more than the solitary goal he kicked. He took 10 marks and I’d say he game was reasonable. He’s definitely got that X-factor.

Payne - We gave Brenton the big job on Williamstown’s Sam Dunell and he did a pretty good job. The pleasing part is that Brenton learns how hard it is to play at that level because Sam is a professional and regularly take 10-15 marks per game. He did a really good job. Dunell only took four marks and Payney was able to run with him.

Goddard - The feature of Hugh’s game was his strong marking. He ended the game with seven marks and I reckon each of them would have been contested in the defensive 50. He was in our best and continues to get better with every game he plays.

Webster - Jimmy got 23 possessions and had seven tackles. He played well and is still getting his touch back after an injury layoff.

Lee - Tommy is playing some pretty good footy in defence for us, I like the way he is going about it down back. We threw him forward in the last quarter just to change things up.

Acres - It was a terrific effort to come back from New Zealand the night before the game and play the way he did. He’s done that twice now, and he got a wrap from the coach for that. Blake worked hard and finished with 28 touches and six tackles. His game was very impressive.

Saunders - Josh played half-forward, wing and at times in the midfield. He had 23 touches and seven tackles and had a good game.

Hickey - We played Tom predominantly as a forward so that he can provide another option for the seniors. He took the ruck work in the forward 50 and gave us some advantage there.

McKenzie - Daniel was our best player on the day. He kicked a goal simply because he was playing our structure. He’s disciplined and he cracks in. 26 disposals was the most he has got for us so that was a pleasing return as well.

Pierce - Lewis won a few taps and competed well around the ground in marking contests. He knows how to get to the right spots.

Holmes - Jason was similar to Lewis. His tap work was decent and we were impressed with his work-rate and spread around the ground.

White - Spencer started the game really well. He took a nice mark floating in from the side and looked dangerous. He finished the game with two behinds and had another couple of opportunities to hit the scoreboard too.

Murdoch - Brodie was best on the ground in the development league playing in the midfield.

Gilbert - Returned from his foot injury and unfortunately strained his groin in the development league.

Good positive news about Murdoch. You would expect him to dominate a development league game & it sounds as though he did just that. Hope he's back in the seniors soon to get further match practice & hopefully back in the StKilda team after the bye
