Did anyone watch the VFL today? How did the other guys go and will they be pushing for a spot next week?

I saw most of it.
Djerrkura should get a game. He was very clean when gathering the ball and exploding from packs.
He kicked a superb goal on the run, getting around quite a few players before slotting it from 50.

Hopefully the NT boys will get a game next week in front of their home crowd. Djerrkura, Stokes and Varcoe......that would be a buzz:D:thumbsu::thumbsu:

Who was number 16 that was running around today?

Most of the players were wearing different numbers which at times was bloody confusing.
Young Tom Couch was wearing number 9 i think it was. Varcoe wore a different number too.
Reynolds took a nice mark think in the last quarter. There was a lot of new faces I guess kids trying out for the supp list so had no clue who they were.
The game ended up a being a draw.

Did Steve Johnson play? and if he did how did he go?

Hahaha I forgot about Steve, maybe he wasn't playing. I saw the VFL game but it was so hard to follow coz of all these new guys and different numbers. There was a kid out there who looked 15! haha I can't beleive it was a draw after all that! The cats didn't look desperate enough but who could blame them... it was only a VFL practice match. Toddy Grima was doing well in defence so was look-a-like-Cory (i have no idea who it was), some new kiddo.

Most players were in different numbers, Varcoe had 3, Djerrkura 16, Reynolds 32 for example.

Thanks Cattas!! I was gonna post saying whoever was number 16 should be playing AFL, turns out to be Dj hahah.

Two questions:

1. Who are you going to drop, because Chapman and Tenace will get picked first.
2. Did Varcoe actually do anything?

None of the three will play. Chapmen and Tenace on the injured list, still,

Varcoe is not ready and might take another year before we see him in the seniors. Djerrkura will play,(need to find him a nic-name )

I think the AFL let us have an extended bench last year when we played up in Darwin so it may happen again.

From memory we were allowed an additional 2 players (mainly due to it being stinking hot) so we'll have to wait and see how the weather goes.

obviously Milburn wont play, I think Byrnes could be dropped and possibly Sam Hunt.

I disagree completely that Varcoe wont play seniors this season. But my wish to see the NT boys playing in Darwin is jjust a personal thing

Byrnes will not get dropped he was in the best players, he did play a pretty good game but like gardiner his disposals are unreliable and decision making questionable.

Coach mark Thompson said he expected to rest between four and five senior players for the match, paving the way for exciting draftee Nathan Djerrkura to make his senior debut.

Great post mate, you sure are super intelligent.

They have announced that there will be 8 interchange players (instead of the usual 6 for NAB Cup games) so with Dasher to miss Djerka and two others will be added. King and Harley are keen to play so it will be interesting.

I think Thompson said he would rest four or five senior players before the bench was extended. Not sure who he will rest but he will have to bring in a fair bit of new talent to cover five exclusions plus two additions to the bench!

Thought I'd chuck this in this thread because it's titled 'VFL'.
I'm not sure if people care but if you haven't heard yet...

THE ABC has dropped Phil Cleary from the commentary box for its VFL coverage.

I certainly won't miss his hatred of the 'non-original VFA' Cats.
