Re: Voss 2 year contract to be announced tomorow

Good for him, I reckon he's the right bloke for the job. Seems to have learned from his mistakes and wants to move onwards and upwards.

Took me time to come around, but those are my sentiments too...the club needs stability and while the W/L column may be the worst its ever been in the club's merged history, I think overall our performances don't necessarily reflect that and there is a great deal to look forward to and Voss is the man to do so.:thumbsu:

Re: Voss 2 year contract to be announced tomorow

Great news and fully supported. He is developing our young list beautifully and I cannot believe how far he and the Club have progressed in the last 12 months. With the wisdom of hindsight, Fev was a terrible mistake, but like some, I was seduced by the "window" at the time and salivated at the thought of Brown and Fev in our forward line. Vossy has done his apprenticeship and now with some luck from the injury gods has a chance to take us to the next level. He and we must be patient.

Re: Voss 2 year contract to be announced tomorow

It's a shame they're only willing to offer him a two year deal. The Lions being in this rebuilding phase needs to be looking more than two years into the future when putting a strong list together. If 2012 doesn't go well with respect to win/loss you'd hate Voss going down the recycled players path again to save his job.

At the same time don't want a Richmond/Terry Wallace situation.

It's been hinted at in the media that his contract contains benchmarks. I suspect they will be about playing a certain amount of young players etc.

He certainly looks to have gone with a long term view this year by blooding 11 players. Not worried.

Yep, also got the text, great news to start Friday with, but even greater news to start the offseason with.

Re: Voss 2 year contract to be announced tomorow

How are people still negative about this??

RIP Brisbane Lions

Unless a decent assistant / advisor is appointed this will be a long slow death ....

He killed our side, this is ridiculous. If the media wasn't so Vico high, you'd be gone Voss

Classic MBE in the last comment :)

Well I've got my reservations, but we'll see how this plays out.

Stop living on a prayer Brisbane fans..

Coach to play finals, not draft picks. You gone Backwards faster then a wrecking ball.

Really is funny reading some of these comments...

LMAO at Mickeyblueeyes embarrassing himself on Facebook.

Still hasn't learned that repeating the same illiterate and unsubstantiated rubbish repeatedly doesn't actually build an argument.

We know you're reading this MBE... you're a little bit of a joke buddy. :o:o:o

There are some doozies on the Courier website too.
I only watched the Luke post match interview with Vossy last night.
In my opinion Vossy looked more uncomfortable than Luke.It must have been a very tough decision ,given they are friends as well, so it really shows Vossy knows he must make tough decisions for the club to go forward.
Shows the character of the man, as he must know the flak he would cop from a legend like Luke leaving.
Watching Luke in the interview he looked hurt ,as you would, but I wonder down the track, he might wish he had not been so hasty in the way he actually did his retirement announcement.
Anyway, good luck Vossy, I guess you know what you are in for and true fans will be hoping it turns out successfully.
Crowds and membership will fall untill we start our climb back the ladder and people discover our new young players ,who may also become legends of our great club.
Go Lions and all the best to our cubs in our rebuild.

Only 3 of the Quotes are his, that last 3. I want to reply but feel it would be a waste of time. Some people are just really pathetic.

Thankfully, not every poster on the Lion's Facebook page is a complete knob :thumbsu:

Great decision. All the signs you want from a rebuilding team are there. Young guys getting games and the team still actually being competitive. Aren't teams meant to get flooged by 80 points every week while they rebuild? Not us. :D

Four months ago I'd have torn my hair out at this news, but Voss has had a good winter and seems to have a plan for the future.

Two years is the right length of time. By the end of 2013, we'll have a better idea whether he can take this team of kids to the next level.

I am a hard core lions fan but cannot understand why voss is there....it started with Bradshaw and now legend clubman Luke Power....voss has poor communication with his players.....after 12 years supporting the club myself and my family will not be renewing our memberships next year....

thats it i am out of here go the suns

the only way to get rid of this dead wood, is to vote with our feet. I'm not renewing my membership next year. the whole issue with Voss caused problems with every great player we had during his onfield career, and that has followed on to his coaching role. Sorry if Voss don't go , the fans will.

while he is coach I have no need to give Brisbane any support. He is no good for the team.

The response on the Courier Mail's website really captures Brisbane's perspective on AFL. All clueless, bandwagon, glory-hunting idiots who seem to have no football knowledge whatsoever. I'm happy with Vossy's re-signing two fold; not just because I think he's proven after a tough year that he is the right man to take this young and talented list forward, but it will weed out the pathetic 'supporters' that tear up their membership every year we don't win a premiership. Good riddance.

I endorse every single word of this. Dead on!

Please, please, please post the same comment on the Courier Mail article.

I am really happy with the re-signing.

I am happy to admit I was ready to say goodbye to him after the Gold Coast loss.

But since that point he has not put a foot wrong, and although there aren't many numbers in the win column. The youth that has blooded is very exciting and feel we can only go up.
