Watched it last night and also was very surprised and impressed with him. Seems to know where`s he is heading.

Even though in there first instance a Experienced Coach for the first time in our historywould be my prefered option.

posts on the carlton board suggest that negotiations may have already started & he may be going there

which may mean we end up with Pagan

although sat morning sports talk judge , todd & co seem to have now leapt aboard the danniher wagon

Janie, would`nt mind this, but i have heard Peter Bell say a few times he is a horse racing junkie and it would be hard for him to leave Melb. But if we get the Millers to help him out with some horses then we are in the running.;)

He is a very good coach.

Why the hell would we want Daniher?
I think regardless of Voss, Pagan is nearly gone from Carlton so if Voss is out of the question we need to make a serious play for Pagan.

I think it is a massive move for a guy at his age , married, and in love with the lifestyle of Melbourne, to pack up the kit and start a new life in Perth. He would also be a wealthy man, and while he would be payed well, I think he should/would only come if he had something to prove, and still burns to coach a premiership team.

I dont think Pagan has anything to prove. He is a premiership coach with the Kangaroos and is doing a pretty good job with the cattle he has at Carlton. If it is a Premiership he wants then he may come over to Fremantle but he may want to stick it out with the blues for a little while longer and prove he can take an ordinary side back to finals football which Carlton will be close in probably 2 maybe 3 years time. But then again its up to Carlton to renew his contract.

YOu have a very different idea of "pretty good job" than me. Just the other day marked the anniversary of him having coached Carlton for 100 games. 25 of those were 10-goal+ thrashings. That is - every 4 games they got humiliated.

He did good when he had the competition's best player and the Us against the World mentality at North Melbourne. But he cabn't manage a list and the game has pretty much passed his tactic (yes, singular) by.

If Connolly goes, a heap of lp[ayers will go too. Bell, McManus, Cook, Hasleby, Carr, M, probably Pavlich.

All gone. Which would be a surprise to some of the whiteants.

Based on his media performances I think Voss would be a dud. I mentioned a couple of weeks back how Blight was teasing Voss with what he would do at certain points of the game and Voss was speechless.

He would be a mega-risk for a club like us and I can't believe the Board would take that risk.

Daniher is a pleb.

I think Voss would be a good candidate, he wouldnt take crap and he'd ring the changes until he gets what he wants. Have some teething problems but nothing we are not already used too. Players would respect him.

You fail to mention that Carlton were stripped of draft picks and basically broke when he took over.

He has young players all over the park. You don't think he had anything to do with the 'Us against the World' mentality? Seems to me that's what we have a bit of at Freo and he could spark it..

I think you should state your reasons why you think a heap of players might go if CC does. McManus and Cook i can understand cuz of age, possibly Bell too. But that might happen regardless of CC leaving.

Then why would you write this in the next 10 seconds;

If it is a Premiership he wants then he may come over to Fremantle but he may want to stick it out with the blues for a little while longer and prove he can take an ordinary side back to finals football .

He would be aware that the poor record he has built at Carlton will tarnish his reputation as one of the super-coaches. Even though their draft penalties had a huge impact on anyones ability to achieve anything there, he has not done well.

With the list Carlton had in 2003 (Pagans first) he has done a pretty good job to get the list to where it is now... 10 players from 2003 are still on the current playing list. Pagan cleaned out the old dead wood and inserted young players... IMO he has done a good job with what he has had to work with

I did say i think he doesnt have anything to prove however he may want to prove to all those against him eg. Mitchell.

Carlton won the spoon the year after us.

There are only 10 players left from the 2001 squad that had played a senior game .

P. Bell
M. Carr
T Cook
A. Grover
P Haselby
Justin Longmuir
S McManus
S Parker
M Pavlich
S Thornton (zero senior games)
James Walker

CC list building has been far superior to Pagans.

Missing the Hase.

P. Bell, A. Grover, Hase, M. Pavlich would be in our top 5 players imho

If we can snap up a Pagan or Sheedy we would be an infinitely better team. At least we'd be paying for a known commodity. Going for Voss would just be crazy, same with Suma. I'd keep Cuddles over another assistant coach frankly. At least with Cuddles you know the team is not going to be falling apart, its just going to be coached at a mediocre level.

We're 11th, not wooden spooners. It's not the end of the world. We'll make the finals and we'll give it a shake. CC is as good as any coach going around.

Get rid of him now and we'll be going through teething problems, at a time when the list is able to win premierships. Why put on another assistant coach, espeically Voss who has never done a thing. Does noone remember what happened with Tim Watson?

Geelong were calling for Bombers head a few rounds into the year. Now look. Cc was in the same position last year at this point. What happened? We had the most successful year in our history.

You should all calm the F down and wait till the end of the year before hanging CC out to dry. Treat him like crap and he might just leave, regardless of where he finishes, so he at least has a few years security with a team like the Demons, who may well get rid of Daniher for him.

One thing is for sure, CC will coach AFL next year, even if it isn't with us.

For starters get rid of CC will be an immediate improvement.

I think Pagan would be good for Freo. Tough coach who will demand the necessary discipline and knows how to win footy games and a GF. He is a proven commodity.

I think Pagan has done a good job at Carlton in the circumstances with the infighting, draft losses and a club being bankrupt. He has managed to win a pre-season cup which is better than "the nothing" that CC has managed.

Above all he will have player respect which is so fundamental.

No one knows that

Well He is obviously not putting this knowedge to use , as He hasn't won too many in the last five years at Carlton. One game in four over nearly five years is not good.

http://afl.allthestats.com/coaches/coach.php?id=279

Especially against us as He has not beaten Freo in the last seven attempts and His only win over CC was a 1 pointer in Canberra with the Roo's in 2002.

sounds like Freo in 2001 - 2004

Big Call , there was a huge exodus from Carton of premiership players who did not share your view.

Beaumont , Campo , Hickmont , Allan to name a few.

Hoogs, Want a bet on the above ?

How many years do we wait?, Every mid season break under him to my knowledge we are in the same boat.

This is not personal and I believe he is a nice funny guy. We dont need a nice funny bloke. We need a hard nosed senior coach who will drop players no matter who they.

His time has come.

Hoogs - what ever you are taking I would like some too. What has CC really achieved with all the resources, support etc at his disposal and the 6 years he has been here. Basically making two finals and not getting us any where near a GF.

Don't think it is going to be easy this year, having to win 7 out of 10 games with some tough away games. A lot of the other teams have improved and we have basically stagnated. It is a tough ask from our 11th position.

Look at what happened with St Kilda rolling the Eagles and do not expect Carlton to be easy this weekend. They are a danger side and if a couple of their forwards fire, it could be really tough.

Even if we sneak into the 8, it will be bottom half and it will be tough having to play away games and we will be knocked out the first round. So IMO anything except top 4 is a failure for Freo and CC.

Any side that takes him as their coach has to be nuts. But my preference would be CC to the Eagles, as he would take them down to the bottom of the ladder which would be great.

I say keep Connely, seem to remember a lot of people baying for his head last year, then what happened? I know our chances of it happening arent 100% but I say keep him, let him know hes top dog and maybe he'll act like it, enough with the 'win or your gone ****'

I find it incredulous that people would even suggest replacing CC with Pagan,
the coach with the worst record of all the current coaches head to head with CC.
CC is 87.5%, the only loss was that 1 point game against North at Manuka,
followed by 7 straight wins with an average margin of 30 points.

PS: the other name currently being tossed up has the second worst head to head record with CC 78% over Daniher.
