Votes vs Brisbane

I'm surprised to see Mayne attracting votes. I missed the first quarter, so it must have been an absolute blinder from him. He did close to SFA for the rest of the game and didn't kick a goal. I don't think we can afford to have a key forward whose only role is to apply defensive pressure.

He was the only one who did anything in the first, when most of the team looked set to continue on their form against Melbourne. However, his kicking at goal is appalling. A massive worry, it seems to infect the whole side.

Good thing Pav was on target tonight.

5. Silvagni
4. Pavlich
3. Broughton
2. Fyfe
0.25 Palmer
0.25 Mellington
0.25 Mayne
0.25 Lower

Love the pressure acts applied by the above four who I had to squeeze in. Some hunger finally shown and the word Insipid wont be mentioned in threads this week. Yayyyyyy!!!!

Fyfe - 50000 awesome pack marks that will fill the highlights reel this week
Hinkley - well... Ummmm....

I'm betting the mark where Hinkley was playing with the Brisbane defenders by juggling it three times will get shown more than any of Fyfe's.

Mayne was excellent for the first three quarters, really chased hard, had a couple of score assists from turnovers and chasedowns. Your view of his performance was no doubt influencd by his misses on goal during the second half - but trust me, he was a key to us being even anywhere near them at the half...

Frankly, I don;t agree, but I have started another thread to open up the discussion. I don't think Mayne is doing anywhere near enough for what his role is.

Fyfe - 0 goals, 3 behinds
Mayne - 0 goals, 2 behinds
Hinkley - 2 goals, 0 behinds

You just can't teach goal kicking I guess.

Bulldung, if you really think Hinkley is better than Fyfe AND Mayne you are even more deluded than you were last year. Let's see who is still playing for Freo in 2015, and who wins AA selection...

How the hell is Mayne even in contention for a vote? Key forward, no goals , 8 possessions, 3 marks, 3 tackles.I don't recall any significant goal assists though I could be wrong. That 5 minute cameo at the end of the first quarter that I missed but that the commentators referred to musty have completely turned the game

He was outstanding in the first two and a half quarters, multiple 200m+ chases out of defense on zig-zag runs that went up, down, across and back again through the ground. One run and chase in the first quarter saw him run past Hinkley twice, Broughts twice, Duffman twice and Bradley once, to lay two half tackles, a pressure and then take a mark. Yes, his kicking at goal in the second half was off, but without his pressure they swamp us in the first half and we aren't even talking about us being close to them. FFS, how about we play him as a defender if you are all going to promote Hinkley, Mellington and Clarke ahead of Chopper?

Yes, because arse always gets more attention than class.

I've delibrately kept out of the pathetic "Drop Stephen Hill" threads, and I don't want to re-ignite them so I'll post this here. What did everyone think of his game last night?

I thought he was terrible. Not bad enough to be dropped, but what's going on with him?

He got more involved in the contest, which I liked. But there was one moment where he had a Hinkley deer in headlights freeze that really worried me. The ball spilled over the back of a pack and he had more space than he's had in weeks. Instead of just bolting forwards, he hesitated, went at half pace, and Brisbane forced him into a position where he turned it over.

I expect excuses to be made for him again, but he's meant to be a game breaker who creates the play. Didn't do much of that last night, and doesn't look dangerous at all.

Hinkley was better and more of a matchwinner than Hill.

looked like he was more focused on winning his own ball this week, so while his running game may not have been great i thought the effort was much better compared to last week.

fwiw

He had a massive goal assist in the 1st when the chips were really down. At that stage it looked like BL were going to do a job on us. He had about 3 tackles, won the ball, laid off to Pav for a goal on the run. It was fantastic.

Considering he is 21 and taking the best tag from opposition each week (due to knowone else left to tag and his game breaking ability) I think he is going OK...not brilliant but ok
as for your last comment you are taking the piss
