How did ____ go on the weekend?

Why not consult the Alesana Player Video Database.

It's not just the money, right? The WAFC owns WCE through Indian Pacific Limited. We aren't doing anything they disagree with, no matter how much money we have in the bank.
It would be the football equivalent of a constitutional crisis.

They'd sack our board and replace them with people who are NOT going to create a WAFL break away league....

.. I mean, seriously. SGIO has some out there points of view, this is one of the wilder ones.

Who is the “we” that is creating this renegade league?
Should be a private group with a few investors no? Id suggest each team is part of the ownership with Eagles being more or less the organiser then the owner. Id suggest Freo would be involved too Why would they not want to put money into something you would own as opposed to something you dont? Both clubs invest into the WAFL and have zero rights to it. Its nothing but money down the drain. If you create a competing competition you atleast hold ownership over it

When you look at the revenue WAFL generates you will see just how easy it would be to do better IF you actually lean into the money as opposed to run away from it like the WAFL does as a whole

Not necessarily. Eagles dont need to be a part of the WAFL, just like they dont have to be a part of a breakaway league. It would be a individual decision without outside influence. You cant sack a board for making beneficial decisions for the associated entity. Thats not exactly legal you will find.

If we wanted to organise it, we could. WAFC dont have too much to work with unless they plan on breaking the law to make a stand

Who owns the West Coast Eagles?

People are very quick to forget Archer kicked 2 goals, took 3 contested marks and had 7 score involvements in his 3rd game in the derby.
Archers first few games were promising and good. Freo game was two months ago and since then he hasn’t reached anywhere close to that. Since then he’s kicked the same amount of goals in 6 games. Rate the kid highly but also see that he gets an arm chair ride that some draftees never got or will never get.

Who owns the West Coast Eagles?
At this point it seems like the WAFL does? We bend down to their every demand like a bunch of wimps.

Who owns the West Coast Eagles is a pretty crap question if you are Don Pyke. Don Pyke is meant to run the Eagles, not kiss ass to the WAFC as far as im concerned. If he feels the need to kiss WAFC ass, he isnt doing his job to protect the interests of WCE.... which we all know he isnt

People like to believe that we owe the WAFC our souls for some reason. We dont. We have a right to be a business on our own two feet in the end.

The correct answer is that West Coast is 100 per cent owned by the WAFC.

The correct answer is West Coast is a separate entity whose responsible for itself and not the entities around it

Google the phrase “wholly owned subsidiary” and come back to me.

It doesn't seem like the WAFL owns us.

They do.

We exist because of the WAFC. They own the licences to run Fremantle and WCE in the AFL, and they own the corporation that is our holding company. We pay them a dividend every year.

Like it or not, but yes, we owe the WAFC our souls.

Eagles are not a wholly owned subsidary... If they are they are breaking tax laws atleast. Indian Pacific Limited manage our operations and finance, not the WAFC. The WAFC role with Eagles is as a associated entity of Indian Pacific Limited

WAFC owns 100 per cent of the shares in Indian Pacific Ltd. It’s not an “associated entity”. It’s the owner.

This is basic first week of a business law unit stuff.

WAFC now exists because of Fremantle and the WCE revneue streams.... so nows the time to push the envelope no?

All these "WAFC will sack every Eagles employee" isnt riddled with any truth. If they did itd just be lawsuit after lawsuit under the Corporations Act. You cant sack someone from a associated entity for doing business deals that go againsr your demands

I dont get this idea in the sense we literally have no one attacking from HB besides Maric.... which is the problem Maric is having. Maric needs McCarthy like player in the team to take some of the pressure away from him, in particular with Maric being deeper in defense. Maric is much better on the HB line as a whole and not taking the kick ins but with no one else worthy he ends up in that spot.

McCarthy can come in, Cole can go out. Ginbey can spend more time intercepting the ball as opposed to trying to run from defense

All of that should be the aim as opposed to dumping all the pressure on someone in his 1st game to create from defense
Well you could just do Cole for McCarthy either, I just want Bazzo to get some games. Could just run with Bazzo in for Brock or something but Bazzos natural game seems to be to play loose - just like Gov.

Bazzo imo is a big part of our future post Gov, and Maric needs to be a bit better at actually defending.

Problem is Ginbey looks best when he can roam around and take the game on too, so I want him free to attack also.

He hasn't kicked 2 goals since.

We all get you're having a fan moment on Archer. He's a good player with a few good traits.
We understand he's good 1v1 and is competitive.

None of that matters as a key forward if you can't hit the side of a barn with your kicks.

I'm not having "a fan moment". I simply reject out of hand the idea from people in here that Archer should be moved to defence.

Ability to win contests in front of the ball is the single most important attribute for a forward, and something that can't be taught.

He could end up as the next Levi Casboult

We’re having enough trouble simply attracting players to join our WAFL side

The notion that we could somehow establish a breakaway league is laughable

Ryan Maric is a 20 year old, playing his first season in defence. Ever. Not to say he hasn't got a huge amount of work to do. But given how far back he's coming from, he's actually doing surprisingly well.

That said, McCarthy's arrival will put some heat on him.... which is not the worst thing in the world. Maric has 10cm on McCarthy, but McCarthy looks to have good pace and excellent skills. Maybe there's a place for both of them in the side. But if we assume our back six has two KPD (Brock and Edwards), Ginbey as a third-tall, and maybe Duggan, Baker or Cole as a small/mid defender... that doesn't leave many places.
