How did ____ go on the weekend?

Why not consult the Alesana Player Video Database.

A good game from Barnett?

limmy-waking-up.jpg

Probably more accurate to say a good half a quarter.

Out of all the Beagles games i've watched over the years I think this one may actually make me the angriest.
Not because we lost, not because we didn't try (we tried damn hard).
I'm angry because we had that match sewn and we threw it away with some piss poor efforts that should be well past this club.

Getting sucked in for the third time by the same nuff swans player into a off the ball free.
Not setting up behind the ball after we kicked the goal to get in front
Leaving the corridor completely open like a damn runway so late in the last.
Being up at 1/2 time and then letting them waltz in 6 Goals to 4 in a qtr to take the lead.

There has to come a time where OK efforts are no longer enough for this team.
Saying they ONLY had 10 AFL listed players in the squad should not and is not an excuse.

I understand the way you feel, however over half the blokes at that last play were ammos and they're not completely across how set-up at that point in a game. It stings a bit, but unfortunately that's what we're going to get with the quality of footballers out there.

It shouldn't be on the Ammos to know where to setup, they shouldn't have been in those spots in the first place. All the experience in that side should have been in those spots.

Petch, Jamieson, Dewar, Williams. Heck even, Jack Eastough & Shannon Lucassen as Captains and Sparks and Mercer as vice captains should have known better.

Shame Koby Evans hasn’t done much. Had his first couple of handballs earlier in the second quarter.

Crazy, anyone know how much Perth ended up winning by?

Woweee hate to be a Perth fan right now.

"Right now"

Never in doubt

Can't imagine following West Coast and Perth...

Not a great day for Perth in the Reserves either.

Jamisons kick to the 50 was putrid too , signalling for everyone to go towards the boundary line and then booted it to CHF.

Dare I say, that last 30 seconds also doesn't happen if Mini does the right thing and relegates, say, an Owies to the WAFL.

Have the right mix of senior players down there and they'll actually have people to arrange structures and communicate effectively with the top ups.

Ok.
I'm still mad at how that match ended. However, i'll try to look at it holistically.

Positives:
  • Barnett finding a spine for a Qtr at least and kicking 3.
  • Grego, Johnson and Dewar the best of the AFL listed boys playing.
  • Livingstone was solid in the Ruck, not sure he has a tank for AFL level but should develop into a very very good WAFL ruck/fwd.

Negatives:
  • Letting the oppo kick 6 goals in a Qtr.
  • Absolutely ZERO sense of the game in the final minutes.
  • Jamiesons kick that turned it over in the final 30 seconds.
  • Jilliams missing absolute sodas all night, should have had a bag and ended up with 3.
  • No one dragging Sparks off the ground and telling him to grow up and stop taking the bait from Jesse Turner who ended up with 34 touches, 5 Free kicks, 10 i50s and a goal.
  • Champion needs to get some selfishness to his game, too often he looks to give it off when he can run and carry or have the shot himself. I like that he's looking but often he burns the team because he turns it over when he didn't need to.

The Umpiring at WAFL level is beyond garbage, it's corrupt. The club should absolutely call it out (they wont) we're bottom of the ladder who cares if they fine the club over it. Everyone knows it, just say it.

Interested to here what the watchers have to say about Greco? Only one not to get a debut. What's his position?

I'd be surprised if he doesn’t get debut this week coming, just as a reward. They seem to like playing him off the HBF but I feel like he'll be exposed for pace at AFL level. Ideally I see him as a midfield rotation as he has good decision making and very good disposal.

He's also got a nice step in traffic, kid just seems to have time when making decisions.
I agree he's not quick pace wise but he buys himself time with the way he moves.
Usually a good decision maker as well. Probably starts at HB but ends up as a Mid.

Grego seems like at the very least he'd make a good defensive midfielder. Tagger even.

Seems a fuss free customer who's slick in traffic, disciplined and doesn't mind getting his hands dirty, without being a bull. Also very capable overhead.

Personally i think he's wasted in the WAFL unless he's up on the ball more. Similar to Bo Allan. Defensive spud can go to someone who already gets 12 touches a game regardless and that's Harvey Johnston.

That Walsh top up was a peanut for giving away free kicks but man the second one to Turner was a huge flop.

I’d be embarrassed looking back at that replay if I was him.

Barnett’s last quarter. Where the hell did that come from? Absolutely a confidence player.
