DUAL premiership player Dean Wallis has joined Fremantle as an assistant coach.
The former Essendon defender played 127 games from 1987-89 and 1991-2001, achieving premiership success in 1993 and 2000.
He moves west after a being an assistant coach with the Bombers and St Kilda.
“It is a very exciting period ahead for the Fremantle Football Club and they are on the verge of achieving something historic,” Wallis said.
“I look forward to being a part of Fremantle and working with Mark Harvey, the other members of the coaching team and the playing group to achieve something special for the club and the supporters”.
At the completion of his playing career with the Bombers in 2001 he spent two seasons as an assistant with St Kilda before returning to Essendon as an assistant coach in season 2004 where he was in charge of the defensive unit until 2006.
In 2007 he took charge of the team's forward line.
Meanwhile, the contract of career assistant coach Peter German has been renewed for another season.
German has more than a decade of coaching experience following assignments with WAFL clubs Subiaco and Peel Thunder, Tasmania club Burnie Dockers, and West Coast and Hawthorn.
A Life Member of the North Melbourne Football Club where he played 185 senior games from 1984-1994, German also represented Victoria in 1991 and Tasmania from 1995-97.
In 2006 he was the WAFL state coach.
Don't know about the headline with two "new" faces... but hey, it's all good.
