In all likelihoood both Dustin Fletcher and James HIrd will retire at the end of the 2005 season. Who will replace perhaps our two best players. Should we look outsid the clud or only as far as the BEndigo Bombers?

Fletcher retire at season end?????? No Chance
Hird possibly but I doubt that too.

But for the future, Fletcher's most likely replacement looks like Bradley at this point. Hird can't be replaced.

there is no substitute for jimbob.

The logical replacement for fletcher not as FB but best defender we got would be the developing bradley.

When hird retires we will lose a match winner but if mcphee keeps developing and improving each year we may have another match winner on our hands to help fill the void left by hird.

Fletcher will play 300 games; he's not going anywhere in the near future, health permitting.

Kepler has already been mentioned and I think he's a star. Andrew Lee is supposedly a great KPP prospect himself but his injury looks to keep him out for the year and set his development back a bit.

Sam Hunt is still on the list, though I'm not sure why, since it doesn't look like he'll ever get a senior game.

Hird is irreplaceable. He is a once in a generation player that you can't count on drafting; there's a great deal of luck in it all.

i think we have bradley to replace fletcher and for hird i tihnk its going to have to be a case of mcphee developing into even more of a match winner and using the money that hirds retirement frees up on a midfielder such as a dal santo. Not saying he will play at essendon, he is purely a example. Bradley to mean seems to be already getting some jobs fletcher may have done in the past such as pavlich and treaders. I dont think we will be able to replace hird because of hs brillaince, inspiration and freakish displays of talent. however if we get a gun midfielder with his money we may have a midfielder who will help us win as hird did because thats what gun midfielders do.

I think every club would want a replacement for Fletcher and Hird on there list.
They dont come round that readily.

Bradley will not be a full back, simply doesn't have the speed off the mark for it. Now let that be an end to all this Bradley will replace Fletch stuff lol.

We do really need to find a replacement for Fletch even if he does hang around for a couple of seasons yet.

Hird is un-replacable, and Bradley will fill the FB position.

Bradley will never be a full back. FB is a power position and Keps just isnt explosive enough. At CHB he can use his greatest physical asset which is his endurance. If you put him at FB that asset becomes a non factor. Fletch is dynamite over the first ten and has great closing speed. They are two very important factors for a full back.
