This is the thread for discussing the War in Ukraine. Should you want to discuss the geopolitics, the history, or an interesting tangent, head over here:

If a post isn't directly concerning the events of the war or starts to derail the thread, report the post to us and we'll move it over there.

Seeing as multiple people seem to have forgotten, abuse is against the rules of BF. Continuous, page long attacks directed at a single poster in this thread will result in threadbans for a week from this point; doing so again once you have returned will make the bans permanent and will be escalated to infractions.

This thread still has misinformation rules, and occasionally you will be asked to demonstrate a claim you have made by moderation. If you cannot, you will be offered the opportunity to amend the post to reflect that it's opinion, to remove the post, or you will be threadbanned and infracted for sharing misinformation.

Addendum: from this point, use of any variant of the word 'orc' to describe combatants, politicians or russians in general will be deleted and the poster will receive a warning. If the behaviour continues, it will be escalated. Consider this fair warning.

Finally: If I see the word Nazi or Hitler being flung around, there had better have a good faith basis as to how it's applicable to the Russian invasion - as in, video/photographic evidence of POW camps designed to remove another ethnic group - or to the current Ukrainian army. If this does not occur, you will be threadbanned for posting off topic

This is a sensitive area, and I understand that this makes for fairly incensed conversation sometimes. This does not mean the rules do not apply, whether to a poster positing a Pro-Ukraine stance or a poster positing an alternative view.

Behave, people.

You're clutching at straws, just as I expected :$
In February 2022, Rubio condemned Russia's invasion of Ukraine. In November 2024, he called Ukrainians "incredibly brave and strong", but said the war in Ukraine had reached a "stalemate" and "needs to be brought to a conclusion" to avoid further casualties.

And Trump has now given Putin another 50 day’s grace
Trump's approach to ending this disastrous war has left a lot to be desired, I agree

Still, the war didn't start on his watch and ultimately Putin should've have invaded.

The Russian attack on the 14/15th was smaller than some of the others recently. It was mainly Shahed style drones. Ukraine claim 178 out of 267 drones launched by Russia were destroyed over Ukraine, another 66 were lost/suppressed by electronic warfare, but 23 drones hit seven locations. That's less than 10% get through.

From a youtube comment page

A Cuban, Russian and Ukrainian are on a train trip. The Cuban took out a big cigar, lit it and threw it out the window. The other asked, What did you do that for? We have many many cigars in Cuba. The Russian took a sip from his vodka and threw the rest of the bottle out of the window, and said. We have so much vodka in Russia! The Ukrainian thought for a minute and then threw the Russian out of the window.

The words russian and window complement each other exceptionally well.

This article talks about Ukraine interceptor drones used for Shahed style drones. A fairly large quad copter design that strikes the Shahed from below, guided by thermal imaging and direct POV control. No prices given but I would guess vastly cheaper than a conventional SAM.

Perun covered interceptor drones in his last video.

So if a war doesn't start under a certain leader’s watch he can say, stuff you? Really? And did Israel, the aggressor’s, genocidal war start under his watch? No. Yet he happily provides them with as many weapons as they desire, no payment required. Has he ever said that war is not his problem?

That's not what I said. Name a US president who hasn't supported Israel?

No. you asked for a link about little Marco being russia friendly and now i have provided that link' that shows how friendly little Marco is towards russia.
You should also inform the Pentagon that they've underestimated Russian losses :rolleyesv1:

I have, and little marco didn't like it because he's pro russian, which as you know i have provided the link t back up my claim.
Now here is a little bit of advice for you, when you make a claim, make sure you have a link to backup your claim.

Putin: "At the current rate, we've only got about 50 days worth of ammunition left. After that I'll need a temporary pause to re-stock before continuing the bloodshed."

Trump: "Don't worry, I've got a way we can both come out of this good."

Putin: "Sounds good - but as soon as we've rebuilt our stocks, I'm good to go again, yeah?"

Trump: "Of course, let me know when you are ready and I'll pivot back to 'Ukraine are bad' again."

There's supporting defence, then there's supporting genocide.

When Israel and Christian militias were shown to be slaughtering Shi'a in Lebanon ( which led to the founding of Hezbollah to protect them), it was Reagan who called the Israeli PM and said that the slaughter stopped or US support stopped. Israel announced its withdrawal the next day.

Biden or Trump could have achieved this, but both chose genocide.
