You cant compare grief among different individuals or different kinds of grief.

Having someone with-hold your access to your child and move the kid 750 km's away is a pretty terrible feeling.

Obviously she had no talent any employer thought was worth paying $180 Thousand dollars a year for.

The footballer asked her to move to Melbourne and promised to meet all her housing and living expenses until she got a job or was studying, the court document said.

And clean up after herself while she was unemployed was fair enough

But when she moved into McMahon's Melbourne apartment in December, 2004, he sacked the cleaning lady and expected her to do the household chores.

Well considering she wasn't paying rent, power or food; I presonally would be pretty disapointed if Jordy didn't at least ask "The Princess" to do a bit of house work

McClure claimed in court documents that, during their time together, her former partner spent $100 a week on phone gambling and lost $8000 on a 2005 Las Vegas football trip.

Sounds fair enough to me from a guy getting paid $180 000 + per year

Throughout the relationship, McMahon kept his financial affairs secret and maintained separate bank accounts, according to the court document.

Was she going out with Jordy or his bank-book ?

In 2006, McClure and her daughter regularly went to Adelaide to visit her mother, who was dying of cancer.

Since the split, McMahon has paid McClure 4.5 months of six months' rent, as well as $600 a month, the statement said

600 per month, 4.5 months rent and six months use of a car.

Prior to settlement..

I would hardly call that being left destitute.

Just because Jordy can earn $180 - $340 Thousand per year does not mean that because she cruised into his life she deserves half of it.

If he pays his way with the kid that's fine in my opinion.

Surely he does not owe this woman a luxurious lifestyle on the back of his talent and hard work.

Agreed, the system does SFA for fathers in the way of allowing contact.

And often the added expense of paying for escorted flights for the kids comes in to it if distance is involved.

And if that involves a flight changeover (example Melbourne - Brisbane - Townsville) Qantas is the only airline that lets you do that.

On top of child support.

Every thing is in favor of the mother.

When did this ever happen to McSofty. He dumped his missus and kid then turned his back on them. The only feeling he should have is guilt.

I'm not defending him, but there is two sides to every story. I don't believe this girl is telling the whole truth, which will be somewhere in the middle.

The ending of the relationship sounds like another incorrect disposal by Jordy.

In all seriousness though, you can't really read too much into the article because it is only telling it from her side of the story. I never try and judge other people in broken relationships and work out who is in the right or wrong, because you never know the full story and it is impossible to know the full details of other peoples lives. This would be even more the case with someones private life in the newspaper as told by one person in the relationship. What his ex is saying may be completely true or it may be fabricated but I am not going to judge him on any of that.

I am probably in the minority here but the private lives of footballers don't really interest me that much.

After the way he left our club and what he had to say afterwards i can't help but believe her side. I still can't believe he didn't move back to SA, if i was in this position i wouldn't want to live interstate from my kids(i have three).

We had a thread about 6-12 months ago where the same story you posted came out.

And someone supposedly close to the WB playing group back in those days posted that friends of Jordy had tried to warn him that she was trouble.

Add to that between the lines that Jordy's family are Real Estate Royality in Adelaide.

In other words he comes from a rich family, add to that the good money he is making playing football. He would be a prime candidate for a gold digger.

As I said he did not leave her destitute as she alluded too.

And I'm sure Jordan would write a cheque to the trust account of his daughter in a heartbeat, even for a huge amount.

But I don't blame him not writing an open cheque to his daughters mother, because their is no guarantee that most, much or hardly any of that would go to his daughter.

Regardless, by reading even the story you presented, surely he cannot be described as abandoning her or being a dead beat dad from what was reported.

From the way she carried on in that article you posted, I wouldn't blame him for keeping away from the cut snake.

I'm sure he still has mates at the Dog's....much like Nathan Brown is still close with Robbie Murphy

Good friendships often transcend team allegiances.

And I dont mind sticking up for a guy who played 114 games for the Dog's 80% of which I thought were pretty good

How would you know this? Have you ever met him in real life? Do you follow him around 24/7 to know the full extent of the story or do you just believe anything that is written in the paper? I personally met him at the Richmond family day and he is a stand up guy. He signed more autographs than anyone and was good with the kids. Also was there with his family and although he might be an ordinary footballer at times he seems like a great family man.

Callan Ward, will be a star of the AFL, I have no doubt about that.Clayton knew he would go somewhere between 15 and 25 so happy to get the pick from the Tigers.

McMahon, was starting to struggle and he was no longer in the Dogs best team. Wallace was a fan and grabbed him, payed overs IMO. He will be traded once Wallace leaves for a 3rd or 4th rounder.

Callan Ward will be a gun. You can tell when a bloke at his age already has skills but even moreso, composure and awareness. A few years ago I said Griff and the Coondog would be future Brownlow medallists. I'm adding Wardy to this list.

Ward will be a star, composure under pressure, attacks the ball hard, has nice finishing skills, can kick goals, he excites me though he must put a bit more muscle on his frame and learn how to break tackles with a swivel of the hips that the most elite midfielders in the afl are pros at.

Our midfield consists of...
Cooney(Already a brownlow medalist), Griffen(could be one of the elite players of the game with a touch more consistency this year), Higgins (Genuine star and can only get better with more games under his belt), Boyd (Hard in and under player, one of our most important players), Cross ( Won the Sutton medal ahead of Cooney, who went on to win the brownlow. Brillant, tough, umcomprising, always gets his job done) and Ward. Mcmahon would not have gotten a game in our midfield now, whilst I believe Ward is an important part of it.

And with Mcmahon, he had some good games for us, and just to be able to have played more than 100 games at the afl level is a good effort so Im not going to treat him too harshly, all I am going to say is I expect ward to become the better player. Ward has a few attributes Mcmahon could only dream of having, in composure and disposal effeciency. Ward has shown more in less than 20 games than Mcmahon has shown in more than 100.

You do realise McMahon is a defender right?

So he should be compared to our current backline, and see if he'd get a game in it.

Our best backline is:
Morris, Lake, Hargrave
Gilbee, Williams, Addison

Wouldn't knock any of them out of the side, but I'd reckon he'd be good enough to be the 22nd player picked in the side, which is what Ward is currently.
