Warnock Gone

Warnock to Melbourne (we all laugh out loud at him every time we play Deez). He plays in 2nd rate, poorly supported, and almost completely stuffed financially club. We swap picks 1 and 3. Freo pick Nic Nat with pick 1, and as our 2nd string ruckman he towells up Warnock everytime we play Melbourne.
How duz that sound?

Crazy talk.

If we get rid of all our senior players we'll end up like the eagles - getting belted by 100 points every round. Much better to bring youngsters in to develop around the core of quality we've already got.

But I think you already know that. You must be taking the piss surely.

No I'm not taking the piss, but I do know we will likely get belted with a more youthful team. It would be best to offload those players I mentioned over the next 3 trading periods, with some traded in this period if we are going youth "for real".

Otherwise we will have these star players who retire in 4-5 years when they will have zero value. Much better to get a group together, a nucleus of youth, that will mature at much the same time like Hawthorn, with a few experienced players as you go.

What people here want is this "half ass" youth policy which won't be as effective as a proper campaign. When 90% of our good players are 25+ and people entertain an idea of "rebuild" what does this mean? Rebuild with pick 70s in the draft? Rebuild knowing 90% of our best players will be retired when we have the next GF crack? Rebuild knowing pick 60 in 2008 is what we will be having a GF crack with in 2012? Hilarious. We will be twice as bad in 5 years if we don't get value for the stars we managed to pick up now if we go down this rebuild path.

Alternatively I think with the right moves we can be a premiership contender within 2 years.

warnock for paul bower. straight swap. would be a great deal for both clubs. must say im pretty happy in warny for not nominating a club. i honestly expected him to screw us over, i will only boo him half as loud now ;)

Just because he hasnt picked a club yet doesnt mean he wont.

Judd was saying very similar things about "best deal for the club" this time last year and then he ****ed us over by nominating the Blues.

I wouldnt be patting Robbie on the back just yet. He'll want money and opportunity, the club that offers him the most will be his preferred club. Somehow i dont think he will accept the 150k offered by the Pies just because they offered a better deal to Freo than Melbourne who will pay him 300k.

there is absolutely no way in this world fremantle will accept that. carroll is a dud and in his late twenties. and a third round pick is completely inadequate. me smells a troll

Terrible News.

To all those congratulating him for giving our club a fair go realise that his comments are all pre-planned for the benefit of his image. If he cared anything for the fremantle football club he'd consider the 3 years of time, money and hard work that have been put in to developing him from a gangly risk into the sought after player he is now. Note that this is a direct relationship. Now fair enough if from that position he was seeking more game-time, but the fact he has nominated "family reasons" for him leaving shows that he is willing to turn his back on what was put into him, completely disregarding loyalty to the club in order to pursure his own selfish interests.

I'm a massive Sandilands fan but if anyone thinks that our ruck stocks can survive this, consider if 211 goes down with an ACL first round next year. Pessimistic yes but it has to be considered.

Yes, and we need our backup Pavlich if he goes down too, backup Palmer, backup Hayden, backup McPharlin.

If Cox goes down for WCE in 2005/2006 they are gone. That's just the way the ball rolls, you can't have someone of Warnocks potential/payscale sitting on the bench for 90% of his career, it's a waste for us and for him personally.

We don't need Warnock, and our club is better for not having him, thank god we can get a decent pick out of him though.

I never really understood the line of reasoning that a player owns a club something beyond a contract term. Its a risk the club takes to develop players and its upto the club to entice the players to stay.

If the player turned out crap the club would cut them no questions asked.

When I was having lunch with Robbie today he said he would have loved to have stayed at Freo but thought that the weight of the anchor would prevent him performing at his optimum level, was embarrassed when he had to sing the club song, and was sick of being called gay whenever he wore purple.

Is that you GJ? :D

Guys, isnt this the most likely scenario, given that he is out of contract - some time between now and trade week he will nominate a club.

You guys just need to hope its not Melbourne, cos if it is you will get under the odds - PSD threat.

I'm hoping he nominates the Blues obviously, and if he does, I think a deal would be struck at second round pick (24) + a fringe player (maybe)

How duz that sound?

how about you use that #1 to get daniel rich, then a ruckman later on in the draft who will perform even with warny over the next few yrs, and have daniel rich not only towel one player up, but their whole entire team?
how duz that sound?

(keeping in mind there is no chance this trade will occur:D)

Barra just said that Steven Icke confirmed today that Carlton will make a bid for Robbie. Much better scenario for us, I reckon. It will be rather ironic if in the end Robbie does the right thing and Josh screw us over when we reflect at the comments made here in the last few months.

And make a big play at that apparently...

I think they realise Kreuzer is a very good forward/ ruckman in the mould of Ottens, but need a specific tap ruckman.
