Yeah you’re right.
Must’ve been bleeding heavily from the mouth from an errant handpass or something.
It could've been a stray elbow in a tangle, who knows. The point is that no one at the time really knew what happened apart from those two - it was off the ball and even those fans at the game who said they had the best angle of the clash on the opposite wing admitted to not seeing anything - why would you? The play was far away from there at the time.
I like to think that although there are a few dickheads who cheer a player getting clobbered, the vast majority would've been genuinely concerned once they found out what really happened.
