Go listen to Neville Bruns interview on SEN . Bruns suffered the same injuries as Brayshaw from the Mathews punch and Bruns was told by the doctors that the punch could have killed or put him in a coma so yes Brayshaw could have died from the hit and many havent been as lucky as Bruns or Brayshaw.

Wow, just wow. Lost all respect for the Eagles. Fans (not all) are disgusting, many clearly making excuses and victim blaming, the standing ovation, just disgusting. The coach defends , deflects and then rewards Gaff with 4 coaches votes. I liked Simpson up until Sunday, not any more. The CEO makes tough statements about exactly this kind of act during preseason the backtracks when one of his own is involved and has a crack at a clearly upset opposition club.

The Eagles have drenched themselves in shit in their response. It can be clearly contrasted with the reaction to Bugg's hit on Mills by Melbourne. The fans, the coach and the club all said it was completely unacceptable and Buggy would have to work to regain respect.

The Eagles have never rated that high on the list of clubs I hate, now they're right up there with Essendon, Carlton and Hawthorn

If you think they were giving him an ovation for the punch, you are either seriously delusional or just a major troll. Possibly both. All clubs have their fair share of things they're not proud of. You should take a good hard look at the ongoing negativity David Schwarz and Garry Lyon caused.

The "hate" as you call is is so "overtop" because this is the first time in 35 years that someone has had their jaw broken like this by a sucker punch, whether intended for the jaw or not.

Things that have happened since the last time we saw a punch like this:

If I were WCE, i'd be searching for videos in past games of Gaff hitting other players in the chest and just play the hit gone wrong* angle (which it almost certainly was), pray for 5 weeks and get back for a GF, I don't think he will get less than 7 though. Imagine he does play a GF and wins the Norm Smith, it just wouldn't be a good look for the image conscious AFL.

*the only hard thing with that argument is he bolted off and didn't stop, he would've known once he hit him where it connected, I just think he didn't realise how flush he got him.

It should have been. I've been consistent with this. If your act causes an injury that wouldn't have occurred without your act, you start your suspension after that player is healthy. That doesn't matter if the player was in my side or not. You injure a player deliberately, be prepared to sit out over a month.

No, hopefully in this day an age footy players can just... you know not punch people in the head.

Plenty of players have accidents on field where they hurt an opposition player and they stay with them for 5-10 seconds until they see the trainers coming over. It's not an outrageous proposition for a decent human being.

I think Gaff didn't stay because what happened is exactly what he intended. He swung at the head and connected.

People die from being punched every day, Gaff had know idea where the punch would land, he was supposedly aiming for the chest and missed that by a fair way, how close is the temple to the jaw. Saying you cant die from a punch to the head is ludicrous and just plain stupid.

Old system where you got a 25% discount for a guilty plea..it was a ridiculous system, if a case is deemed tribunal worthy you shouldn't get a plea discount. Gaff will get a record discount (maybe 1 week).

My gut feeling is it will be 10 weeks down to 9 weeks for the record. Rules him out this year and a couple next year.

Well no. I asked you questions directly relating to your opinion. You stated that police involvement is too messy and causes a shitstorm. The questions directly relate to this.

Second paragraph: this is a misrepresentation. You mentioned Lewis and bugg. Two Melbourne players, there’s been plenty of off the ball hits this year. And even more last year. It’s now clearly obvious that it was a deflection, since now you’re claiming “I only mentioned bugg”, when you clearly didn’t.

Third paragraph: I pointed out you going to personal, claiming in crying and offended are examples. Again, you ignored it.

Fourth paragraph: is now back to attributing emotions that you seem to have no understanding of. It’s very weird when you attribute emotion to strangers online. I asked some fairly simple questions of your opinion, you’ve yet to justify how they’re “crying” “offense” or “anger”
