But the simple reality is that Clarke, Griffin and Sandilands are almost certainly going to mortgage the #1 ruck slot for the next 5 years. Moller is far more likely to find a role in the forward line, with some short burst in the ruck. Being a better forward could be the biggest criteria when selection time comes.

I don't think we could see Sandilands/Griffin + Clarke + Hannath in a side.

But I think we could see Sandilands/Griffin + Clarke + Moller

He seems to have more versatility to me.
Well, Sandilands will only play on after 2014 when he has very good injury free 2014 I'd say. So in 2015 we will have probably Griffin and Clarke as starting ruck. And Möller (or Hannath or both) to slowly take over from Griffin then...

But all off them considered mainly rucks. So a real big impact (more then ~1 goal/game) up forward will surely be a bonus. Need to look somewheere else for a keyforward.

Ps But I'd be happy when I get a positive surprise...

Tabs looks like a future star, but where he's really come short in the senior games he's played this year is his positioning on the ground and reading of the play. Come next year I'm sure he'll start to settle in to it.

Tabs leading patterns and particulary his repeat hit ups are amazing for a young lad.
Two massively different opinions there. i guess I don't have high expectations for any of the young players to produce in their first seasons, and especially KPPs. I kind of assume they are all talented and have the potential to succeed, and what I most want to see is their ability to learn.

We have 4 rucks on our list at different stages of development + the first choice senior citizen in Sandilands. For sure it is unlikely Sandilands will extend his career beyond the existing contract. And they are all considered "mainly" rucks, but the cold hard reality of modern football is that playing 2 specialist ruckman is not the way things are going. The excitement over Moller and even Hannath are in part because they can be a danger up forward, and super tall forwards seems to becoming much more common.

The following article demonstrates the potential that Moller has always shown due to his athleticism and skills outside of the ruck position. If the club fails to develop them (perhaps by giving him some gametime as a third tall forward) it would be disappointing imo.

Sydney University’s 17-year-old ruckman, Craig Moller ,made a memorable senior debut on Saturday, kicking five goals in the Students’ 88-point win over Campbelltown in their Sydney Premier League AFL clash at Blacktown Olympic Park.

definately expect clark to be starting ruck with him forward when sandi leaves

Quite likely. But it highlights a significant issue, assuming that is after the 2014 season at the earliest. Hannath looks like he would be pressing for selection in his own right around then, and I actually see Moeller capable of being an effective player in a Bradley style role around then too. They won't want to be waiting another 3 or 4 years for a best 22 spot to open up.

Hard to say at this early stage as to how good taberner will be, there arent many rookie list key forwards going around who have made an impact, so the odds are against him, but he has looked impressive at wafl level, and did a couple of nice things at afl level. would be incredible if he turned into an afl quality player

Does it make a difference once they're on the list? If Taberner has a big summer and there's a spot available round one 2014 it shouldn't matter if he was pick 1 in the National Draft or pick 11 in the rookie draft.
