Will you be?

I was at the game yesterday so obviously i've seen it from a different perspective so i've decided i am going to it again tonight. I've thought about it a few times and i think i need to see it. Even the Eagles celebrations at the end.. at the game after the siren i sat down, looked down and didn't move for about 15 minutes after.

no, i would never watch it again. The first half was terrible and it was agonising to watch. The second half was better but after the siren it was pain from then on. I rather watch the 2005 GF for obvious reasons. The faces on our players, i've never seen so much emotion and sadness on their faces.

Sitting still for 15 minutes! omg... was that also during the medallion ceremony?

I think so. I had tuned out so much by that stage. I know i was sitting there for a long time though. Everyone around me was standing and i was off on another planet.

 Why on earth would you do that? I haven't watched the 2004 GF and that was after we knew we couldn't win at 3Q time. I couldn't imagine watching a repeat of a game where you lost by a point. You would be sitting there and thinking "if only he did that" or "what if that went through".

One thing, the medallion ceremony was absolutley identical to the Swans one. Like.. i don't know, the actions and screams made by the WCE players were sooo similar. Brought back memories. Poor you Nat, just sitting there! A painful moment! >.<

Yeah, i know, my same reaction.

My tip Nat, after the siren goes... turn off the TV or something. Images of the swans players reactions right after the siren. It would kill you...

Trust me, i already have about 1 million "if only he did that" in my mind, they won't be going away for a long time. I don't know why i feel the need to watch it again, but i feel i have to.

i havent watched the 2005 GF. i might some day. yesterday has dampened it so next time its on a might have a look.

its hard to watch because you know the result and what is going to happen.

P.S. watched yesterdays game about 5 times now.

I watched some of the last quarter again.. it's horrible watching it when you know the result, stating the obvious. The pain on their faces after the siren is a killer, especially Adam. I'm proud of them, they put up a fight.. we came so close, yet so far away at the same time. Really, they did us proud.

how does adam hunter always pop up and kick the goal that matters? although it was really daniel chicks goal.

I'm not a Swans supporter but they're one of those teams you still like to see win.

I can't wait for the DVD of the game to be available. I'll be watching 05 and 06 back to back. Good footy no matter how you look at it.

I've only seen the 96 Grand Final once. I'm doubt I'll ever want to watch yesterdays. I think I'll cringe inside everytime they show any footage from the grand final next season.

I think that's one of the main reasons why i wanted to watch it again. Even if we don't want to, there's going to be plently of times when we're going to have to see footage of both the game and after the game.. i think now that i've watched it again i'm going to be able to deal with it better when i have to see the footage.

I know how you'd feel.
As a WCE fan I haven't watched 2005 BUT
try being an eagles fan being tortured by
"Leoooooooooooo BARRY YOU STAR" all season on fox footy and everywhere else it's been shown.
We HAD to win this.
The off season is a long one and most of your thougths turn to next season where you have all hope they'll win it (and we did in 06)

In the mean time, take solace in 05 and "that mark"

Just got back into Sydney last night. General impressions swinging from Pride to Dismay. But at the end of the day our two teams have earned a place in footy folkore over the last two years.

I will be watching the game. As horrible as Jude/Barry's points, Amon's fumble, Tiger's trip followed by the holding the ball are etc etc etc were, watching it again with open eyes you'll see any number of horrific moments that Eagles fans would have been feeling sick about if it went the other way.

If it was a 10 goal thrashing where the Eagles had a day out and the Swans were hopeless I couldn't possibly sit through it. But in a one point game there are errors on both sides (all those out of bounds kicks by Eagles for example). And sometimes I find watching a game like that and seeing we weren't the only team out there under pressure, and seeing how hard it could have been for the other side if it went the other way actually makes it easier to cope with the loss.

But that's just me of course. :(

Ouch. I've now watched the game. I had to fast forward the close ups on Goodes and co after the siren. Pretty raw emotions for me there. But the game itself held no fears for me on a second viewing. If anything it just proved to me what the spirit of the Bloods is all about.

And congratulations to all the Swans members that stuck around for the award ceremony. Any Eagle's fan who watches a DVD of that game for the rest of history will see a sea of red and white behind the podium paying their respects to the teams - immortal proof of our good sportsmanship right to the end.:thumbsu:

It did. It just killed me. Saw Doyley fall to the ground after the siren in that final battle with Cox and it was just so painful.

Couldn't agree more on the shot of Doyley. I couldn't watch it from that point until when Kirk gets up to make his speech, either.

Yeah, i noticed there was a sea of Red and White behind the Dias [sp?]. Proud of those supporters, if only i was sitting with them and share the dissappoinment.

I avoided the media since the GF loss. They always seems to show footage of our boy on the floor. :( Goodes emotions is the worse footage i've seen in my life.

Onwards to Victory!!!

i think the 2006 gf was more flowing than the 2005 one. so i thought it was a better game to watch. plus i dont really care about any of that stuff, im only having a joke around guys. just a bit of banter. all in good fun.

That's cool. Seriously, if an Eagle trolls this board he'll get no joy from me. I'm not going to have a sook. :)

But that's by-the-by. I've already posted how much I admired your team's efforts over on the West Coast board. I'd prefer to leave it at that. :thumbsu:
