Caro today in a nutshell said that said the AFL have investigated and decided to take no action and have handed the issue back to Port to deal with as they see fit. She won’t name the player, neither will Port or the AFL. If there are any sanctions by the club they will not be made public. It is felt that the player has likely suffered enough from the embarrassment, exposure and damage to reputation. There is also concern and distaste for what the ex partner and others did in putting his private messages in the public domain.
The club has had multiple and intense coversations with the pkayer concerned and will not speak publicly about it now or in the future. It has been dealt with.

I only care about the legality of it. It's a bit of a grey area in Aus.

Well said. beyond an uncomfortable conversation there is nothing the club can do or needs to do. As you said hopefully this is a bit of a wake up call and works harder as a result, coupled with hopefully a new midfield role...
