so apparently I've been pronouncing this guy's name wrong in my head.....
I would say ....within the privacy of your own head ...you can pronounce his name any way you like

However in public you may have an issue
A few years back I had a conversation with my dad about cricketer Andrew Symonds. Went like this:
Dad: Andrew SIMMonds is a dickhead.
Me: Yes. But it's SYmonds.
Dad: I say SIMMonds.
Me: He says SYmonds. And it's his name.
Dad: He's wrong. It's SIMMonds.
Me: *head hits brick wall*

Haha.

I remember a relief teacher back in High School telling student that he pronounces his last name wrong. Ended up sending him out after he insisted she was pronouncing it incorrectly.

Some people

And if my auntie had balls she'd be my uncle. The order changes substantially if you start giving 2 games to teams.

They have the best small forward combo in the league, even better than ours with Ballantyne and Walters.

While their talls lack depth, they don't need to score big to win games.

They still have the WA advantage.

They'll win at least 14 games.
Fair points, but I refuse to believe they will win a premiership in the next 5 years.

Yeah but Leigh Montagna definitely has his name wrong ;)

Bicks thinks Milera has to earn his spot for Round 1 and that we are putting excessive expectations on the young lad.

I can certainly understand that reaction, but sometimes your instinct tells you something different. Bicks is very conservative and there is a reason he never succeeded as a coach because he thinks in very conventional predictable terms.

I recall the first game Mcleod played for us. A bloke who had been watching footy far longer than me said "If he doesn't play next week, I'm never coming to another Crows game." Whilst he was exaggerating, his point was valid and when you see talent you must reward it.

Whilst I'm uncomfortable with these expectations on the young lad, I think he has the supportive network around him to succeed.

Exactly you just have to make room and fast track an obvious talent like that

So what's the proper way to pronounce Milera then? Cos the way they said it on the news after the game was also not the way I had been saying it. Ma-lear-ra is the way I say it and the news people were Mi-luh-ra.

Your dad was right.

Andrew Symonds IS a dickhead.

Bolded is correct if Wayne himself is to believed. Let's hope he's trustworthy. :D

Apparently Knight was Essendon but his family went for Port. Heard him say it in a video.

Similar to Milera in that his dad was an Essendon supporter but his mum and grandmother were crows. He initially followed Essendon but then swapped over when he was pretty young. His dad turned up to the Crows induction day with an Essendon hat on his head!

Thank god he's gone

Each time he opens his mouth you start to understand what has held us back (and continues to)

I'm sure Bicks wasn't a lone voice fighting against the current when he was on our coaching staff

Wasn't Kochhead a Sydney Swans fan?

I am not sure. However I have been watching Sunrise for a long time and he clearly supporters every other Sydney Non AFL sports team but thats Sunrise for you, the Sydney teams are always the best as they forget they are in a national market.

I mentioned this in the changes thread for Port, but what are posters thoughts on moving Milera to a half back flank?

Rationale is:

Once Cameron and Menzel are fit he will struggle to hold his place if we base it on current output
He's struggling to get a lot of the ball
Takes the pressure off of him
He played half back in the championships
It would give us another excellent user of the ball coming from defence
If he replaces VB, might actually be some who can provide some run and be part of "midfield rotations"

Thoughts?

Could work. But what do I know!

I think the opposite TBH. Any mistakes in the back half are magnified so I'd rather we keep him on a wing/HF Flank while he's developing.
