Maxwell reminds me a lot of Jason Cloke in a lot of ways but obviously is a better player.
He is Good enough on the really good forwards but gets towelled by lesser lights ocassionally which is not good enough really. He is a much better player outside the 50 on a flank and is better in ground level battles rather than one on one in the back 50 metre arc, I dont think he is a tagger as i feel it may have been a one off against the Crows and eventually the real good Mids would tear him apart.
I like the way he plays but dont feel his position is really safe at all and to be honest it would be a big risk making him the Captain.

Swan would be my choice and Lockyer would have been a shoo in had he not had an ordinary year last season.

We would be laughed at if Maxwell gets the Captaincy, but he does step up when needed.

Personally, I think Rocca would have the most authority out of the whole group, but wont get the gig because of his injury concerns.

I don't know.....Oppo supporters have plenty more to laugh at than that.

My preferred option would be a co-captaincy. Share it between, say, Cloke, Pendlebury, and Swan for a year or two. Then give the sole captaincy to the best performed one of them.

But given that Eddie has ruled out a shared captaincy, I'd give it to either Swan or Cloke.

I suspect they're gonna give it to Maxwell, though, which I'm not a fan of. But I'm not a fan of giving it to Fraser either, so I'm not gonna be overly happy either way.

Can you see Fraser lifting the whole team? I can't. It's not a knock on him as a player, but I just think that the captain should have something special about him. Maxwell I can see lifting the team with a tackle, some grit/determination or an act of courage. Can't say the same for Fraser.

FWIW I'd prefer Swan or Pendles to get it anyway.
