I was confident of us making the four some weeks ago, but not now.

But I also ask, how are we sixth on the ladder after 16 rounds? Why havent we fallen further given our appalling stats - in a league-wide context - for disposal efficiency, goal kicking accuracy, clearances, contested possessions, etc? Why are we even in the eight with the injuries we have had, and the kids, rookies and inexperienced players that line up for us each week? It doesnt add up.

We are Collingwood and we defy the norm. Seriously, it must have something to do with the way we play. I haven't worked out our game plan yet. All I can see is too much senseless hand-balling and some players not utilised to 100%

We are not overrated. I believe to win a flag you need a lot of luck more than anything. This year we are having little luck. We are not in rebuild mode we have the talent we just need luck.

And I am sick and tired of FairWeather supporters who overreact when we lose one game.

The fact is I wasn't surprised we lost to Gold Coast. They are a good side.

I tipped us to lose by 30pts vs Gold Coast. It was the how we lost. Missing all those shots in the 2nd Qtr, then Not Running away with the game in last Qtr when they had no one on the Bench and there best player was out

This has been exercising my mind too. I guess we must be a bit blind to the failings in opposition teams as we concentrate on our own players. Still, the stats confirm it. How can it be? You would think that if our players could just kick accurately, we would blow every other team away given what they achieve with their handicaps. Perhaps the coach is doing an outstanding job covering the weaknesses with good management and inspiration. Now if he can teach them to pass the ball accurately....

The majority of supports believed the we are in a mini rebuild, that we will finish 6th-8th. Yes we should have beaten the suns in the position they were in but we choked. It happens. We were never EVER going to challenge this year even with a full list.

We are developing. We have the ingredients, now they need to cook. I do believe (barring injuries) that this season will be the lowest point we will reach with the current list. It's all about playing under pressure and taking our chances. Reid being out most of the year has hurt our forward line. White hasn't been able to play the role we want consistently and our young ruckman cannot run out games/have not learnt how to play forward effectively.

Although Bucks has kept in some out of form players, most of them play in defence and we simply CANNOT take out what little experience we have left there. People like to lay into Blair but he plays his role and I would be dropping Swan before Blair if we want to look at form only.

To sum up, we have a good batch of young players who have exceeded expectations and held up the team with the large amount of injuries/form drop of older players. Because of exceeding these expectations it seems some fans are now laying into these players as they are tiring as the season rolls on/not holding up form.

Only people who overrated the Pies were some of our own supporters who got caught up in our ladder position rather than the teams we were beating, and some parts of the media who are simply mentioning the pies to sell papers.

I am unhappy with how we didn't take our chances against the suns, but it is just the bumps we have to take on the road to rebuilding/reinvigorating our list. Like has been mentioned, by people on the forums and by Bucks himself, it's about having the capacity to take our chances. Apart from Pendles and Elliott I don't trust most players on the team to be able to do that. If we can improve our disposal, particularly under pressure, we have the rest of things we need to challenge IN THE FUTURE. And I don't by the glass half empty theory that "it is hard to improve player skills and disposal, that comes naturally" argument. More experience, fitness and confidence does improve disposal. Thats all we need.

Also the overreaction on this board is amazing. I don't remember seeing an unbeaten team every year. Teams lose to teams they shouldn't. Multiple times a year. I doubt the Port board is currently going through the 500 threads that we have gone through. Same with Hawks, Cats, Swans. I now avoid the Collingwood board for 48 hours after a bad performance because I know it will the same threads going over the same things that will be forgotten after our next win.

Don't get me wrong, we aren't the perfect football side and things aren't going to simply fall into place. But we are heading in the right direction. There is only so much that can be done. We have so many injuries we haven't had a chance to see the team that Bucks is building this year. We don't have our swingman, our Rucks are running out of puff, White hasn't performed as well as hoped but his replacements have been injured. What can bucks do? Our defence has been smashed. Swan has had an awful season. Yet we are still in finals contention. I thought we would finish 6-8th with a full list.

I am happy with what I am seeing, and expect the team to be inconsistent. From game to game and quarter to quarter. It is frustrating, yes, but it will happen when the gameplan and team changes so drastically over a few years.

Avoiding this forum after a loss is a bit like saying you like the Verruckt except for the bit where it goes down

I am a guy who is easily frustrated and that clip annoyed/frustrated the shit out of me.
The worlds tallest slide and they film the guy not the image of the slide. Why would you do that? I want to see the slide not the ugly basterd riding it

I prescribe 10 vents after our next loss to give temporary relief from frustration. I apologise for aggravating your sensitive disposition....

Geez mate your a bit tight with your vent prescription. 10 vents are used used up within 5 min of the final siren. What do I do after that.

A lot of things have given me the sh*ts this year. Mainly
KPI's
No Martin
The team has frustrated me no end.
But...People who say "Lets face it we were never going to be contenders this year" are wrong.
Think about it. Besides the Freo game we have been in a position to win all the games which we lost.
IF our injury toll had been normal. And by normal I mean 'a niggle' isn't a season ending career. And you have one or two players out not half the team then we would have been contenders this year. We have shown we can beat Syd and North. Geelong we just lost to and Hawthorn was a 10 team brain fade which cost us badly.
Trust me (would I lie to you). If we had a normal season regarding injuries we would be top 4 and we would be contenders.

So the Team is Mentally Weak? and Can’t handle a Close Game at times?

Not sure if mentally weak. I think more a case of losing focus.
But more to the point if we had a proper list to select from I don't think those games would have been close

Well they would need more Mental Toughness so they don’t don’t lost the Focus

Probably the singular most intelligent post I've seen since I last posted in the forum. Dont even mention Martin this week. We probably could have won at least 4 more matches if KMart had been upgraded.... but no, Buckley has to ignore him. I've vented at least 9 times on this issue and I have ridden a huge tidal wave of support generated by a sea of frustrated bigfootyites...

Of course we could have beaten all those teams if KmART had played and the conditioning staff had been sacked...

Overrated? I'm just about beyond caring about our 'rating' for this season. I'd just like to see us get a few more good players/top picks into the side, and then have them play together for a few weeks, and develop some chemistry, consistency and confidence. Is that too much to ask?

That adds up to never being contenders. Sure if everything was perfect we might be top 4 and if things went our way in the finals we might snag a flag. That applies to a lot of temas and we'd had 48 of those seasons in the last half century (ok, maybe 40).

No way in hell was our list capable of a flag in 2014. We just don't have the depth, the overall skill or the age profile. We have 2 top end KP players and 4 top end mids. There are few yuong players who may (or may not) emerge bnut right now we lack the class on every line to win a flag.

Talk about scientific. I know things have gone professional over the last decade and David King is always telling me about 54% of players doing this and 21% of teams doing something else, but the basic theme as I see it, is that to win a premiership a team has to be consistently good over the season and the best team in the finals. I dont think that we'll meet the first criteria because we have some injuries and some youngsters in key areas. I dont lose sleep worrying about a premiership at the moment.

Just a Ordinary side a nothing more

Over rating the Pies combined with under estimating the opposition is a recipe for mental illness!

I wouldn't say that. We're a young side so you have to expect inconsistency.

That said I feel we have to find players to overtake lumumba, Blair, Dwyer, etc. if we are going to be successful.

Thought Dave was talking about GCS.

I seen many people on here say we are a Top 4 Chance and I see people back away from it the last 2 weeks

"Are" and "could" getting confused here. I've said all along we're a 4-10 side depending on injuries and how some of the kids progress. Nothing has changed.

i think we should have stayed with the same premiership winning team... no reason to change anything.

Yeah, nothing quite like the heavenly aroma of embalming fluid in the change rooms before a game to motivate players.

Hate to be a North Fan Then;)
