... seriously, notwithstanding the fact the Gold COATS have improved significantly this year, our side has changed dramatically since last year. Putting the flat track bully argument aside for a minute, last year we probably had one of the worst line ups ever to pull on the jumper.

Kelvin Moore (gone, unlucky shit)
Addam Maric (gone, reject shit)
Robin Nahas (not playing, lazy shit)
Angus Graham (gone, ****ing woeful shit)
Luke McGuane (not playing, pretty shit)
Brett O'Hanlan (not playing, pretty shit)
Tom Derickx (shit)
Jerome Webberly (gone, shit)

Replace them with:

Troy Chaplin (Moore)
Ty Vickery (Derickz)
Jake King (Nahas)
Ivan Maric (**** face)
Daniel Jackson (O'Hanlan)
Nathan Foley (Webberley)
Matty White (Nahas)
Aaron Edwards (McGuane)

I refuse to be negative about this game, even though l still think we're performing diabolically below what is expected. I just cant see it happening us losing this one.

Agree but I'm still nervous...think we may have had a similar thread last year about the players surely not screwing it up a second time and somehow we managed to.

Didn't we have the same thread saying how much better our side was then last year that got within a few points of North and that's why we would win?

We are no certainties any week because we lack mental toughness and our players are mental short people.

Actually, looking at those players in the team last year, it's a wonder we only lost by a kick!!

I too am nervous about this game, it's natural given what's happen the last 2 years...But even though Gold Coast has improved, I think their season is dipping slightly...

I think we will win... There is just far too much on the line for us this weekend... I'm expecting a performance like the West Coast game... We were under the pump in that one and played our best game for the year...

We could definitely win, we have a horrendous loss to atone for. That said I'm still nervous and anything can happen on gameday. I wont be celebrating until we're home and hosed.

I wasn't confident on the weekend at all, just knew North would play a blinder and it didn't help we were rubbish. I'm tipping us to smash GC, doubt we will be given them a what 5-6 goal start like last year. Also reckon the skipper and Jack will have blinders:thumbsu:

We lose and the race for the 8 gets blown open to 7 teams...guess what the AFL will be working hard to happen...just get ready for an absolute reaming from the umps dudes...its the perfect storm for the AFL and how they work the script...;)

We should win. But footy is a funny game, if Ablett's out I'd say it'd go from a 60/40 game to an 80/20 game, but the Cairns factor is a big one. There's also the mental Demons, if GC start well or start to kick a few in a row doubt might start to creep in. All in all I expect a solid 30-40 point win, but it's by no means a given.

if Ablett is out? ...is there a doubt on his getting up for the game? .

You are too negative cogga. We will secure 6 th spot the only perfect storm will involve 7 and 8 th spot and the loss of points for the bummers

sorry man, but with all due respect you live in lala land if you think that outside finals, they dont conjure results to suit the script. And the AFL knows all to well it will be wall to wall media attention if we drop this one and fall to within a game and a half from 9th with Freo coming to the G, as they did last year...;)

The only positive from last week's debacle is that any complacency on our part is well and truly gone.
On pure talent alone we are a much better side than GC and if we lose this one the coaches need to turn the blow torch on themselves.

People may bring up the Hawthorn curse as an excuse why we may have a mental hurdle to jump but that ignores the difference in quality between Geelong and Gold Coast.

No chance we'll lose. We should be four or five up by quarter time.

He didn't play in the QClash ;)

He was running yesterday. I have heard he is 60/40 to play this week against us.

If we want to be a finals side, we should win. Ablett or not. If we FAIL on this challenge, Finals for me would be out of the question. Rightly so too. We wouldn't deserve it.

Go through our wins on paper, watch our defeats with actual vision. We are not as good as our supporters are saying. I want to make finals as I am sick to death of the ridicule of not making the finals in so long, its actually a statistical anomaly we have missed out for so long, but if we make the finals it will show that there is not that many good teams in the league. We have a long way to go and anyone who doesn't think we are still needing a lot of development in a lot of areas are kidding themselves.

As I said in my rants early after our loss. Lose to GC and major questions need to be asked.

But wouldn't the perfect script for the media be tigers making the GF (and then getting a ass whipping) Us finishing 9th is old news and prevents any further mention of us in September AFL needs us up and about in sept as that sells

Too right.

Yep. We didn't even play bad footy against Collingwood or Geelong! They were just better when it counted. Even against North, it was average footy by our standards, not bad footy (with some notable exceptions involving a single player I won't name).

The Roos, Adelaide and West Coast finished top 8 last season. They have a tough draw this season and they are being found out.

We have an easier draw this year. Next season, if we have to play the truly good teams more often, we too will get found out.

It's simply that our good footy is not yet at the standard of the truly good teams. We need to build consistency and beat young teams like GC.

Go TIGERS!

If you compare Richmond's and Gold Coast's teams at the moment, you would say Richmond should win. We all know as Richmond supporters though that we could very easily lose this match. Our midfield need to get on top early in this match. Doing that will give us confidence and sent the tone for the match. Our midfield bats deep and hopefully our midfielders can have an impact on the scoreboard. If we let Gold Coast's midfield gain confidence, we will really struggle in this match. Richmond's leadership group need to the lead way and make sure the players are playing to the game plan and structure.

Surely we have to win this match, 3rd time lucky right? :p
