Kinda like in 2007, when the AFL scheduled Collingwood & Hawthorn at the then Telstra Dome, and everyone complained about it. At the time it was said that "no-one could have foreseen that these two would be playing so well ... blah, blah, blah."

It happens EVERY single year. There will ALWAYS be several games each year which fit this category. FFS, build a bridge & get over it already, Caro & the AFL.

Who does the fixing, ooops, sorry scheduling of games if not the AFL?

Both Adrian Anderson and Gillon McLachlan are tools of the highest order.

Fact remains we shouldn't be playing these games in Tasmania full stop

Playing Port Adelaide and Adelaide at the MCG and ST Kilda and North Melbourne in Launceston is a puzzling decision of the highest order

Tasmania deserved to see high-quality games.

“In that article, the way it came across, the only contributing factor was the Tasmanian factor. People around I think people around the country, where ever they live, are entitled to see good competition,” Kennett said on radio station SEN this morning.

"I would argue very strongly that the Tasmanian community, who are more committed to AFL football than any other community per capita in Australia, they love their football, are equally entitled, once every four and a half years to see every Victorian team in Tassie,” Kennett said.

"Don’t forget St Kilda used to play games in Tassie until recently … as a result of that they have a lot of members there. Aren't their members entitled once every four and a half years to see their club?

The former Victorian premier said there were many reasons that attendance figures were down this year, but that the Hawks’ deal to play four games a year in Tasmania was not one of them.

On what possible basis?
one that is what Jeff said look in the link i left !
and i tend to agree ! why should the tassie supporters get the crap games that are all interstate teams ! why can they not get some melbourne based teams to play there if you had been asked how do you reckon saints will go this year will they be 16 zip what would your answer be at the start with no games played !

no matter who you play down there or at formerly known as telstra dome you can not predict how that team or teams will be going when they do the draw ! like us and geelong last year ! at the dome ! you can not and never will be able to predict that at all ! yes if we played bull dogs last year at the g we would have got heaps more people there instead of tassie ! but that was not the case and if they moved it i would look atsuing the AFL or at least sending a major complaint with all people affected, as i and others ! had paid for air fares tickets and acxcommendation in advance to go to that dogs game ! and people were calling for that to be moved ! you can not as people organise in advance !

tassie people have a right as much as we do in melbourne or anywhere else to see block buster games and there are supporters of other teams that don't get to see their team unless hawks play them down there !

They have no rights whatsoever. Delusional thinking.

You may as well say they have just as much rights to a Collingwood/Carlton game or the MCG.

Kennett said Tasmania was a state of 480,000 people "who are passionate about football and many of whom support Victorian clubs and St Kilda have a big following there. Aren't their members entitled to one game in Tasmania every four years? The job of the AFL and our job in Tasmania is to support and grow the game for people who love it. I certainly don't think it's a fixturing error for us to play St Kilda there.

"Success is not always about how much money you make or how many viewers you have. What's important is the quality of the code, the importance of an administration delivering good community standards and creating a positive culture and that is what we are doing, on behalf of the AFL, in Tasmania."
i agree with Jeff's age story too

No they don't

We generally attract 35,000 Hawk fans to our Melb based home games, we probably attract 13,000 Hawk fans to our Tas games (rival fans, neutrals aside) On that alone our Melb based fans have 3 times as much a right as our Tasmanian secondary following to watch Hawthorn live

On top of that if we are looking to improve our support in Tasmania it certainly doesn't help us playing popular clubs (who we are trying to take support from) on a semi regular basis

Tasmania are our major sponsor. Jeff is doing his part in looking after them, keeping them feeling they're getting a fair share in the deal. Why would they pay us all the money (don't know figures) to only get to watch the 4 lowest profile teams year after year.

If they're going to get rubbish games, they would of never extended the deal and we'll be in search for another sponsor

Hawthorn has members all over the country and overseas.

Absurd argument.
yes and we dont play over seas but we do play in brissy and tassie and w.a and s.a and syd and members there have a right to see the hawks there too some even come to melbourne to see our guys there too !
tassie people still have a right to watch a good game that is my opinion if you or hawkk don't like it tough!
