Here is a hypothetical best 22 next year if we trade Sandi and second rounder to hawks for say, pick 7 and a decent player like Bateman.

Maybe so but he's their best midfielder and a top 10 mid in the comp. I'd have his 20 pos any day over Swan's 40. Awesome player.
I'm seriously shocked that people are even considering trading away your big man. They amount of money, effort and risk involved in selecting a player of Sandi's height; to then trade him at his peak, it is crazy in so many ways. Unless Hawthorn did something crazy like offered Franklin, then I would not even consider a trade.
Top 10 draft picks still don't guarantee a great player, which is what you currently own. Draft picks 20+ are nowhere near the standard of last year, so stocking up on those picks is also a big gamble.
If Sandilands left, surely Pavlich would have to question his next contract.

That's what a lot of us are struggling to comprehend as well. He doesn't want to go, Harvey said he's not going anywhere, and yet the crapola suggestions from "supporters" on this board keep flying around.
I guess that's the great thing about the forum, in that people can throw up ideas... even if they are stupid...

sandi does not have 7 or 8 yrs in him he has another 2 - 3 yrs of playing at all australian level and then he will taper off. He will retire probably, at the end of 2013, barring injury.
sandi aint gunna be around in 5 yrs he is at his peak trade value riight now.Freo has to get as many kids as possible to go forward. It is the only way.Short term pain 4 long term gain
Why would GC trade for him? He's out of contract 2010. They can have him for free.

cant u c the trade value of sandi right now.we need as many young genuine midfielders plus a couple of young kpp as possible 4 us to become a better team by trading sandi he would fast track our team.Ruckmen of sandi's ilk r being replaced with ryder / clark models
Yeah, I do see his trade value. But if you think that we'll go anywhere with just Clarke doing the ruckwork and no other ruck stocks left, then it's pretty apparent that you're a flog.

His contract is up at the end of 2010 when GC can take him for nothing.
