Loser of QF won’t have a two day break advantage over the EF winner.

Since Suns are playing on Wednesday, it makes sense for them to not play until Saturday.

I think it’ll be:

Thursday night - Adelaide v Collingwood, AO

Friday night - GWS v Hawthorn, Engie

Saturday - Geelong v Brisbane, MCG

Saturday night - Fremantle v Gold Coast, Optus

Would they schedule GWS with a Friday night over Geelong v Brisbane?

The crowd will be amazing. Will the umpires be spineless like last time and try keep them happy?

The umpires have been very pro non Victorian teams in recent weeks, plus Adelaide have the most free kicks for in the league, so yes they will.

Thursday night- Adelaide def Collingwood
Friday night- GWS def Hawthorn
Saturday afternoon-Geelong def by Brisbane
Saturday night- Freo defeat GC

Friday night- Collingwood def by GWS
Saturday night- Geelong def Freo

Friday night- Brisbane def GWS
Saturday night- Adelaide def Geelong

Can someone smart workout how much GC have to win by to overtake Hawthorn on %?

The formula for GCS required score is > 1.20935*(1682+ [Essendon Score])-2034

Only need to win by 15 if they keep Essendon literally scoreless, ranges up to a 40 point margin if they concede 120.

Anyone know when the AFL will announce the days/time?

There is really no good reason they can't announce it now given the top 6 is locked and therefore we know exactly where each game is being played and the home/host team.... give fans to organise time off work / flights etc...

That'd make too much sense.

they should just announce it on Wednesday night, but more likely Thursday

It will be 2v3 and 6v7 on the Thursday and Friday night, because they like to plan the schedule to give the minority premier the Friday night prelim, assuming they win their QF.

I strongly suspect it will be
Thursday Geelong v Brisbane
Friday Freo v Gold Coast
Saturday day GWS v Hawks
Saturday night Adelaide v Collingwood

Following week
Friday loser game 1 v winner game 2
Saturday winner game 3 v loser game 4

No way they give the loser of 1v4 less rest then 5v8.

The qualifying final will be the day game on Saturday, whether that be Geelong Brisbane or Adelaide Collingwood.

Yep.
I got Cats v Lions on the Thursday night too and the blockbuster on the Saturday night.

My mail suggests crows v Collingwood will be on the Saturday

If your mail is the Sportsbet website odds showing that, they've been wrong before. TAB has the game Thursday, Pointsbet Friday.

I'd wait til the official announcement or at a minimum an actual journo to 'leak' it.

Per Geelong's website https://www.geelongcats.com.au/news/1873526/finals-ticketing-update

The Week 1 Toyota AFL Finals fixture and ticket on-sale information will be confirmed on Wednesday night (27 August) following the conclusion of the final game of the home and away season - Gold Coast SUNS v Essendon.

Ticket on-sales will commence from Friday 29 August. Please keep an eye out for an email from the Club and on our Finals Hub page after the final match of Round 24 for all the ticketing details for Week 1 Toyota AFL Finals Series.

As for why it can't be announced, it's probably to not give 5 & 6 an advantage over 7 & 8 in terms of prep and knowing when the game is. Everyone starts from Thursday morning.
