I think thats a pretty minor advantage and if you finish 7th or 8th you cant really complain about 5th or 6th getting a minor advantage can you given they finished higher? As for why it can't be announced, it's probably to not give 5 & 6 an advantage over 7 & 8 in terms of prep and knowing when the game is. Everyone starts from Thursday morning.
I think this will be the fixture.Thursday
QF1: Adelaide v Collingwood (Adelaide Oval) 7.40pm AEST
Friday
QF2: Geelong Cats v Brisbane Lions (MCG) 7.40pm
Saturday
EF1: GWS GIANTS v TBA* (Engie Stadium) 3.15pm *Likely Hawthorn
EF2: Fremantle v TBA* (Optus Stadium) 7.20pm AEST *Likely Gold Coast Suns

What if the crows supporters boo Quaynor or Houston? AFLs worst nightmare. Can the 19th man contain themselves
day or night? My mail suggests crows v Collingwood will be on the Saturday
why not Friday night? most coveted slot in the gamePlease AFL anything but Friday night
They have already been booing Houston the first 2 times we played them this year. What if the crows supporters boo Quaynor or Houston? AFLs worst nightmare. Can the 19th man contain themselves
Collingwood are going the most hostlie reception in history.
Spot on.It will be 2v3 and 6v7 on the Thursday and Friday night, because they like to plan the schedule to give the minority premier the Friday night prelim, assuming they win their QF.
I strongly suspect it will be
Thursday Geelong v Brisbane
Friday Freo v Gold Coast
Saturday day GWS v Hawks
Saturday night Adelaide v Collingwood
Following week
Friday loser game 1 v winner game 2
Saturday winner game 3 v loser game 4
This is not correct. In 2018 gws played the swans on the Saturday afternoon in an elimination final, followed by the eagles v pies qualifying final in Perth in the twilight. Pies played gws the following Saturday in the semiNo not at all.
But precedent has always had the qualifying final played first.
Oh, the horror..Collingwood are going the most hostlie reception in history.
what is this "grouping" based on?They'll group them up
Crows v pies THursday
Giants v Hawks Friday night
Cats v Lions Sat arvo
Freo v Suns Sat night
