Having a post count in the user info box will always create a degree of judgement by a poster before they even read said person's post. Often a low post count will negate the poster's opinion, and contrastingly for some reason having a high post count means your opinion is worth more.

I don't think we'll be seeing it around much longer.

Two things (and I'm sorry if these have already been answered, I did a search, and have seen similar questions asked but can't find answers):

1. Lists of registered users who are viewing ("watching" in the new jargon?) a forum - one used to see a list of the BF members who were viewing a forum at the bottom of each forum - does this still exist as an option or is it gone? If it is still around how do I enable it?

2. (A really lame one) - the old site used to allow one to download a HTML spellchecker (that even worked in IE - amazink!!!!) which could then be run by hitting an icon in the post editing window. This spellcheck option doesn't seem to exist anymore, with many seeming to use Word or equivalent to edit their posts and spellcheck. For those of us (old fogies still on 26K dial up almost Amiga based systems) that want a html spellchecker function, should we source our own or have I just missed (in my usual dufus way) the magic button/code to reactivate the old BF spellcheck function??

Don't make me pull out the old Oxford dictionary and go all multi-option phonetic on youse...

No built in spell-check with this editor that I'm aware. Chrome and Firefox both have built-in spell-checkers if you were prepared to switch browsers.

Thanks for that Bob, I really appreciate the response, dunno why the bit you posted from the earlier page didn't show up on my search, though in two posts this thread has gone from 43 pages to 48 on my monitor. Might be something to do with my snail speed system, just glad Chief is working on the issue though.

And as to swapping to something other than IE - yes I want to, but cousin Bill Gates would be soooooo stroppy if I did. Plus my innate desire to favour big brother (especially Yank big brother immoral internextploitational multinationals) over the common man would be unsatisfied - leaving me with a strange feeling of not worshipping the corporate behemoth that is Microsoft. Kind of like stealing wine from the altar at church, but only after having put 50 $10 notes in the donations box... Or like going to a G20 demo to get into it with the riot squads, but only after having taken off my black tie getup from the dinner I just went to with Hillary Clinton and Putin...

Plus there are still a few freesource IE html spellcheck/edit programs out there for forums such us as this, even on the new software - and if we were to offer a link to one of those, with install instructions, we might just not have to use Micro...

Thought I'd point out that having a members list visible DOES in fact slow down the site so you should look into getting rid of it to deliver quality service.

But a pretty great change to BigFooty, long time coming.

Minor issue:

When I click on any thread title directly from http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/, it takes me to the last post, rather than the last unread post. Is it supposed to be that way? Because last unread post would be better imo.

I don't get this.. what does "getting their stats up" achieve? There are no prizes, no discounts on BF membership...

I personally don't subscribe to the theory that a lot of posts = a more respected or wiser poster. To me it's about quality, not quantity

I posted this in the wrong thread so here goes again as I am interested in whether anyone else has found this as well
I find the new BF much faster but I find that almost HALF the time I post something or edit a post I get the following message

I do not lose my drafted post and I just try again but it can take up to 4 times before I stop getting this message and my post goes through

I am pretty certain it only does it when I am replying/quoting and think it only happens at peak BF times

It could just be that my computer is getting too old and slow?

It's a notice, not a third-party banner. They are used quite rarely for this.

You can get rid of sigs via your preferences but not avs.

Does this software have it's own overriding dictionary?

I've tried downloading two different Aussie dictionaries for firefox but still it shows 'colour' with a squiggly red line under it.

Check your own computers system language. Check firefoxs own language set too.
