Thankyou for being the true inspiration leader that you are.
Your courage and attitude on the field really lifted the club at all times .
Your Best Team Man awards really show the kind of personality you were.

Congratulations Bicks. A incrediable footballing career!

We'll miss you!

Round 5 1991, Essendon at Windy Hill...

The boy from South Adelaide via Solomontown makes his bow for the Adelaide Football Club.

2 flags and 6 finals series later (ex) Captain Courageous says farewell.

We'll miss you Bicks. 110% for the cause every f**king time.

Hear hear on both counts.

Words cannot express what Bickley means to the Adelaide Football Club and its supporters. Bicks is one of those blokes that has the respect of the entire league.

Well done Bicks on a wonderful career.

I'm not an Adelaide supporter but I have always had a lot of respect for Mark Bickley.

It's always sad to see a top player, and a great guy, bow out of the game, but he has contributed a lot to our game.

Thanks for the memories Mark!

Got to love how Bicks was still giving his all with only minutes to go tonight when we had no chance of winning. Just goes to show that he always gives his all & has done everything possible to get the best out of his ability over his career. Has been a true club champion, both on & off the field, & will be sorely missed. I wish him well in his future endeavours. I wonder whether he has an interest in coaching or going into the media.

I'm also not a Crows supporter, but I had a lot of respect for Mark Bickley and he was a great player and served the Crows well.

Best of luck to him for the future. :)

Hmm - think i will be watching Postcards instead of the footy to keep in touch with the lad!

What a great clubman and leader he was, and there is now a huge hole to be filled. The side won't be the same without him.

Couldn't have put it better Kane, so I'll just endorse your remarks.

I think he's a natural for a role in the media, which is where I think he'll end up.

Tonight was such a sad way for Bicks to go out. If only we'd been able to go all the way and give him & Nige the send off they deserved. :(

Anyway, congratulations on a fantastic career, Bicks. One of the AFC's most valuable contributors, giving your all week in, week out. We'll always appreciate your leadership, particularly when it mattered most - in September 97/98. You'll be missed!

Well done Bicks! :) :(

Hilarious. But you and I both know what he did to Wakes was a dog act. He admitted it. Spit happens though. Just leaves me with a reservation about giving unqualified praise (as I would be prepared to do for, say Benny Hart).

Geez mate... ask your doctor for a prescription for Chill Pills before the Libs completely shut down the PBS eh? ;)

It was a glimmer of light-heartedness on a general pigdog sh|tful evening.

It's not often one has utmost respect for an opposition player. Bickley was deserving of this. Never had to have any conscience about sticking out his hand for his pay cheque, at the end of the season. Never knew how to give up, as was evidenced tonight.

All South Australians can rightly feel proud of his contribution to the game. Seems he had the same respect from his peers as well. It didn't show up well on the TV coverage, but the Brisbane players were also clapping him as he was chaired off.

Fair call. As I said, apart from the one black mark, a fine fine career. Hard and usually fair player, who worked his aggots off week in week out.

Agree with all the above (except Pred's comment).

How moving was it to see Bicks chaired off last night, with him giving that big kiss to Macca?

I hope Bicks continues to work in some capacity with the Crows. I'd hate to see him move away completely.
