Good game, you deserved the win

Whether you sucked us into the style you like or if we tried to beat you at it I don't know but you outplayed us as a team

Maybe bias but I thought Crawford was best on ground (Everitt just behind), Buddy was best forward and Brown best defender yet you still beat us

Congratulations

Maybe it is bias for you but i also thought Crawford was best on ground aswell. Im so happy with getting Everitt, he has been great this year.

I dont know about Crawford. I think he blew it with the silly free he gave away on Spida. I reckon half the swans pulled their weight today plus some and guys like schmidt really stood up. Another quietish game for Mcveigh. Where does that leave him now?

Brilliant game to watch though apart from too much whistle blowing

I thought McVeigh had a good game today with some useful touches. He didnt make any mistakes and was for the most part a positive influence on the Swans game.

You can't be serious about him blowing it with Everitt - I loved that. There is too much aggression being taken away from the game. I'm happy for it to be a free kick but I'm also happier that he did it. You need that passion - it's not robots playing against each other (as much as the AFL want that)
Either way, congrats and I hope the result is reversed next time we meet

Yeah well done Swanies, you blokes needed to win that game, and were too good in the end.

We started off well, but we got sucked in to the swanies style.

Big learning curve for the young Hawks, and i think we will learn alot from that game.

Paul Roos give him a pay rise. Totally destroyed Clarkson today and won you the game. Had some assistance from the green maggots and your game style from my side of the fence today was disgusting to watch, but hell if you win footy games from it who really cares. Well done you taught us a few valuable lessons today that hopefully we learn from. I reckon you guys will get back on a roll after todays effort. We have a habit of starting a good run for teams. Enjoy the win and your run up the ladder.

Flooding came from both sides. The first quarter there was no space for us to play in.

We play an attacking game as much as the next time.. only need to look at the PA and Bulldogs game.

Our strength is in the adaptability of the game. Roosy figured out the zone defence you guys were doing. In the end Swans experience ran over the Hawks. Hawks played really well but with it being harder for Hally to play since he's been double and triple teamed, the styles changed and we've been winning games now w/o.

Everitt's been our most consistent player in the last month. Everyone thought that the younger hawks were going to out run him.

You don't play 250+ games by being an average player.

Cheers to all the Hawthorn supporters :thumbsu:

You guys really had a lot of intensity. Surprised you guys still came at us in the last quarter. Thought you guys were dead and buried when we were leading by 23 points.

Lance Franklin has HUGE potential and I can't believe how big and tall he looked when he marked behind Ben Mathews.

It was a scrappy win though, but defeating a really really good and talented team just gives me slight hope for the Swans (making in the GF that is).

I knew we were in trouble the moment Essendon beat you by 1 point the week before. Sydney are the hardest team to beat when they simply cannot afford another loss.

Well done Swans, and good luck for 2007, I expect you be right up there at the end of the season.

PS I'm one Hawks supporter who has no axe to grind with Peter Everitt and hope he continues his good form with the Swans.

Nice win Swans, ignore the bullshit excuses from umpy decisions from people from this site.

Your team has plan a and plan b down too a tee.

Our young side will learn from this experience, no other side can take it up to West Coast @ Subiaco like the Swans.

As negative as the coaching seems, you're the benchmark too advancement in todays modern game.

Oh dont worry not complaining I totally agree there isnt enough aggression players arent being allowed to play but I also didnt think Crawford was best on ground. I have to say Franklin is awesome to watch.

You Hawk fans are a credit to the game and your team! :thumbsu:
I think you guys are going to go a long, long way not only this season, but for many seasons to come. Hawks are my number 2 team so, come September, if we can't do it, I pray you guys do. Who knows, maybe what you learned today may be just the lesson you need to finish out the year.

hey, impressed to see so many positive comments from the hawkers in this forum. good on you all. the young hawks are on the rise no doubt about that, and they will learn a heap from the heavy weights of tempo footy. i thought swannies were atrocious in the first quarter and the hawks were so confident, bordering on cocky.. anyway, im hopeful now that the swans still have got what it takes to gate crash yet another september

The Hawks fans are so much better than the Essendon fans. When Essendon beat us last week the fans acted like they had just won the premiership. I somehow cant imagine Hawks fans doing the same thing if they won todays game.

Thanks Hawks fans, keep your head up as your team is going to figure in the next year or so, and you don’t like to lose, as the way you kept coming at us in so called junk time when most teams stop, that’s credit to your ambition and I'm watching your potential rise.

Franklin best on ground today.

I was listening to Stan Alves on talkback radio today. The guy just CANNOT stand us! He just won't give any credit to us. Doesn't like our style & never will.

Thank God the Hawk supporters are generous with their compliments.

However....................I must say that we were VERY fortunate to get a few 50 mt penalties in the second Qtr to Leaping Leo for goals. They were a help. I would have been bleeding if happened to us. Obviously there was a lack of discipline by some one but you wish they would pay it all year don't you.

Anyway Hawks supporters.......................make sure you all sign up as members if you haven't yet because you'll make the finals & there is a fair chance that we'll meet again in September should we keep up our form & make it!!:thumbsu:

WOW HAWKS FANS! these are some of the most genrous compliments by opposing supporters after a loss ive ever read! =) good to see!!

watever you guys do, look after franklin! dont let him go anywhere & put him in cotton wool at any opportunity heheh

i think he gets a bit arrogant at times, but i cannot fault him & his skills!! awsome future... big, powerful, skillful, accurate & damn nimble!! coleman around the corner for the guy!

By golly, I don't think I have seen a team do their homework done so well!!!

Sydney absolutely strangled our run and direct football. I was actually quite shocked at how tightly the game was played.

We had quite a few undisciplined brain fades.....Jordan Lewis, Crawf and Brent Guerra spring to mind.

Close game, but by the end, Hawthorn looked tired and we had lost our run. Sydney's game plan was simply marvellous.

By the way, thank you to the Swans fans for their graciousness. A class above most on BigFooty. (unlike Bitchmond and Wet Toast fans)

Respect, Guys :thumbsu:

Thats one of the great things about Paul Roos. The difference between how the Swans played with Rodney Eade compared to Paul Roos is just enormous. If it were possible for our 2001 team to vs our 2007 team there would simply be no contest as the 2007 team would smash them.

Thanks. I am finding Hawks fans to be very gracious losers which is always nice. The Essendon fans annoyed me last week as they only beat us by a point and also had some really bad umpiring decisions go their way which directly effected the result the Bombers fans acted like they had just won the premiership.

Thanks for the kind words. Your team is heading in the right direction, will challenge next year IMO.
