Would it make much difference?

In SE Qld alot of people want daylight saving for business integration with Sydney and Melbourne, no such reason in Perth applies. Given that it is light well after work as well in Perth in Summer you wouldn't get much benefit there either.

Really, why is that? It really stuffs my company up, when we start work they are at lunch, so have to wait an hour, sometimes two before we can contact people, if we are trying to order goods to be delivered next day, we have to order before 3 - 4pm AEST, proves extremely difficult.

thanks for organising the poll
yes i would vote for it although i must admit because of our latitude; by about feb when the days are shortening again i wouldn;t be too happy with the dark mornings

but at the moment with the birds tweeting & the light starting just after 4am i think i'd gladly take the february downside

in my ideal world i'd like daylight saving 31/10 - 31/1 as the days are long enough for the daylight saving to not seriously impact on the morning light for those who like their morningactivities; & with school holidays & christmas etc - a lot of the population has holiday at this time of year & i'd rather be tossing another prawn on the barbie & chatting to friends in the dusk at 8pm rather than the dark & getting to sleep in past 4am because of those birds!

So 2 hours turning into 3 causes significant problems. When I was working in Sydney and Melbourne and was dealing with Perth we knew there was always a time problem and compensated for it. When dealing with Brisbane you just automatically assume they are on the same time zone. Hence up here you always get 7am phone calls. The worst part is the Gold Coast where it stradles the NSW boarder.

Yes it does, an hour makes a lot of difference, it means getting urgent goods the next day, or the day after.

I asked my boss today if we could change our hours from 8am to 4pm, as I am sick of getting woken up an hour earlier, so may as well come to work early, he said we can't, becuase the Perth companies we deal with wouldn't be happy with us shutting at 4pm.

i'd agree with q saint it'd be a pain to be on the gold coast - tweeed heads or wherever the border is
but actually the 3 hours is a pain - most offices start 8:30 am so by the time you've turned on the computer read all your joke emails ,made the cofee, watered the plants, had a chat etc etc it's 9am & lunch time over east

it worked for me the other way once i got a call 6am/6:30am from the producers of eddies "who wants to be a millionaire" & strangely enough having only been awake for 30 seconds & my braini found the question "which aussie capital is named after the son of some british lord' just too hard to answer without a hit of caffiene! so no free flight to melbourne for janie!

It is dark at 6.30 ish here.

QSAINT do you need a 'queenslanders do you want daylight saving poll?'
6:30 how depressing - which is another reason to vote for daylight saving
more people out & about at 6:3o pm than 6:30 am so lessen any SAD syndrome

In the past (well at the last referendum anyway) I've voted for daylight saving, but I can't really see the value any more.

As someone with very fair skin, the last thing I'm likely to do in summer is go out in the sun - especially on hot days - so I don't want extra sunlight after work. I do however love the warm evenings, and having them stretch out is excellent in my opinion.

Would love the extra hour of sun after work....would mean getting ot spend more time in the pool. :)
Plus the 3 hour time difference from the Eastern states is a pain in the arse when at work & having to deal with companies over east.

I am the same..what will it do for me? Not much.

Only concern I have is knowing the help desk dont like calls after 7.30pm WA time. But I need help they help...

Is there really that great a difference between 2 hours and 3?

What do you say about Daylight Saving in the winter months?

Thats what I was asking( I thought) Would you prefer DS in winter?

Do you have a brain or what? Why would you have DS in winter, it would be dark hours after you get up, why am I wasting my time, "Perth" & "Crow", says it all really.

But dont forget that extra hour at night? Oh I forgot you want more..as you said who cares in the morning you will be at work but in the evening when you get home you will have that extra hour.

By the way ''praying mantis'' sucked the life out of hubby yet? Have a go at me for been naive or making bad posts but when you stoop to denigrating a persons nic it means you know your argument is about to be shot down

I find this just as reasonable suggestion as Summer DST. If I'm going to work in the morning when it's dark anyway, why not at least have some daylight when you get home in the evening during winter.
