Re sign spuds like Tim Kelly, Cripps and Yeo…

We need help?

Just say it’s horrific list management, and it’s all catching up.

Vic Metro kids get embedded into Melbourne clubs etc. They are under the nose of Melbourne clubs since they were 15 yrs old. So they align with......Melbourne clubs.

Many of them are academy linked to Melbourne clubs.

Vic Country kids....not to the dame degree.

That's the reality. Being private school boys with rich families grows entitlement of having a choice where they live and play.

Vic Country kids and interstate kids (not from an expansion club) know chances are they must leave home to play AFL.
In fairness we benefit a lot from come homes.

I don’t think there’s the same flat refusal to want to move, but both rags and dockers get their share of come homes.

Just after the development work has been done ;)

Sure. Like replacing them with pick 70 in the draft or another teams delisted rejects would have been much smarter list management.

Maybe stop and think before posting rubbish next time.

Thanks in advance. :thumbsu:

Do we really?

We seem to have regular come home players who weren't good enough to get another contract where they were.

Kelly the exception and that didn't work out beneficially did it?

What gun players have we benefited from coming home? Baker?

Bo Allan over Murphy Reid was another example from last year.

Eagles fans were laughing their heads off on here when Freo selected the states better Reid .
“Haha see his face!!- he’s gone the minute his contracts up” were all the comments followed by essentially “our clubs so much smarter drafting Bo Allan instead”

Well WAs best Reid is about to win the riding star and has extended already for further 2 years.

Nothing but Victim mentality from the WCEFC and supporters these days

Tend to agree with you.
But using that logic you guys should have kept Darling as well.

But let's keep shovelling assistance to teams that don't need it.

Teams winning premierships and winning father son lottery as well.

You good with all that assistance going to clubs playing finals? under current AFL policies?
You are about to harvest pick 2 and do have father and sons coming through.

And there is an element of shooting yourself in the foot with your list management/rebuild.

Feel free to show us any club that haven't made bad list calls. Seems to be a theme, "Eagles made some poor calls".

What team haslven't made poor calls at the draft?

Banfield will be lucky to get drafted. If he wasn't a father son he wouldn't even be mentioned.

Harvest pick 2? After losing our captain to the reigning premiers. It isn't a free priority pick is it?

Yeo comes to mind. Cripps. There may have been a recently retired kpf. Quite handy from memory.

But I don't follow your list too closely.

Pretty sure if we didn't select Bo with pick 16 Fremantle would have with 17 🙄

Your ex captain will be paid overs to force you to trigger band 1 compo. Your point is about working AFL assistance, which you are about to do. Specifically, assistance intended to benefit the bottom feeders.

And if you don't want Banfield, ok, just pass.

Not really. North refused more 'darts' from Adelaide to take JHF the year prior because he was too good to pass up.

In fact, North didn't split any of their top picks until JHF left.
proving my point once again. you've given me a clear example of where it was the wrong choice and pick 1 should have been traded out for for more darts at the board.

Nope.

You're ignoring the fact that the entire point of drafting at the top end of the draft is to find the most elite talent possible. You don't give up said most elite talent possible just to have a punt at finding a talent of that same level at the back of the first round.

That's just stupid.

works if you're just a crap side. doesn't work when you're doing a full blown rebuild and need tons of picks.
will just end up going back to the AFL asking for more picks to fill those gaps.

No, it doesn't.

When you have pick 1, you are obligated to pick the best player available with it because it's likely the only 'free hit' you'll ever get at such an elite talent.

Even with how JHF ended up, North were still correct to pick him, as he was the highest rated(non FS) talent.

If you want to end up a middling side forever, with no absolute star power, then sure, avoid the match winners and fill your team with middling spuds.
