Western Bulldogs and their partnership with Ballarat a success

I can't vouch for what colours have been chosen, because Camatic Seating are playing that close to their chest. They say that they don't know what colours have been chosen yet, well that's garbage because the seats are only six weeks away from being installed, and I imagine that 5026 seats have been well and truly ordered from the manufacturer by now.

What ever colours are chosen would have to be club-neutral because the Ballarat City Council own the stadium not the North Ballarat Footy Club (so that rules out dark grey/white/red combinations) and the City Council would want to maximise the appeal of the ground to all users and not turn off prospective users from the local BFL or other community users. Also we need to consider that the ground will also be used as a potential cricket ground. The new Perth Stadium have chosen a seriously bland seating mix of creme and beige in order to make the new stadium more appealing for cricket. Perhaps that was to appease the WACA for the decline of the WACA oval.

For Eureka, I'm going out on a limb and tipping light green and light blue.
I could deal with that. Makes sense given it is called Eureka Stadium and they are the two colours on the Eureka flag. Good call!

It'll be bright and cheery what ever, because everyone knows that Ballarat can be colder than a witch's **** in winter so they would want something that contrasts against the grey sky and looks inviting all year round.

Update Video 7 - I know that they come across as infomercials but that is exactly what they are about. These videos provide updates but more importantly promote local trades and manufacturing.

Seating colours will be a combination of mid-grey, royal blue and charcoal which the colours will be randomly scattered to create a pixel effect.

I went to the Rural Lifestyle Expo a few weeks ago, and ambled over to the fence for a closer look. Impressive, realignment of goals looks good.
Apaarently the mass breakout at the sale yards yesterday by sheep was an attempt to get to the stadium to see how green the grass really is on the other side.

Blue is fine for the seating but the other 2 colours? I haven't seen this combination in action so can't really comment on the aesthetics. It could be quite stunning, but greyish colours could just accentuate the drab weather. On the other hand there may also be practical reasons for their choice of colours such as a lighter clean being needed to maintain appearance.

I agree, I thought that a combination of lighter colours such as a pale green and pale blue might have been more cheery, but they have gone with similar colours to the old seats that used to be in front of the pavilion.

A sprinkling of gold coloured chairs here and there would be very nice.
Saphire blue/dark grey/light grey - I would even liken it to the look of the Navy or the RAAF's camouflage uniform patterns from a distance.

Gold seats will form the shape of the 2016 AFL Premiership Cup. Future seating will allow for gold seats to represent the 2017-2020 cups, or an outline of Bevo's head with flowing locks...

Latest video update shows the unique cladding being installed onto the outer facade of the grandstand:

Coming along nicely, thanks for posting. So much of it is fluff but still great to keep tabs on the progress. Compare this build to the KP and Atelier look like geniuses.

The scoreboard is soon to be installed to the lower right of the nearest goal posts.

Western Bulldogs hope Ballarat clash persuades state government to boost Eureka Stadium’s capacity

THE Western Bulldogs hope their historic Ballarat fixture this season persuades the state government to almost double Eureka Stadium’s capacity.

In Round 22 the Dogs host Port Adelaide in what looms as a September-shaping clash with both clubs targeting the top four.

But thousands of the club’s approximated 43,000 members could be locked out due to an expected capacity of 11,000 when the stadium’s $15 million upgrade is completed in June.

The renovation will shrink the playing surface to mirror Etihad Stadium and add a 5000-seat grandstand.

Bulldogs chief executive Gary Kent wants Eureka Stadium to grow to about 20,000, similar to Tasmania’s Hobart and Launceston venues.

The Dogs are exploring the possibility of hosting two Ballarat matches for premiership points next season plus an AFL Women’s fixture.

Kent said the club made a strategic decision to “win over the town of Ballarat” given the region is home to 100,000 people and remains an untapped market.

But Kent said the extra Ballarat game in 2018 might not come at the expense of the Dogs’ annual Cairns fixture against Gold Coast.

That would drop the Dogs to only eight home matches at Etihad Stadium.

Hawthorn plays four home games in Launceston each season but struggles to fill the venue.

“We’ve got to make this a real success and convince the state government to go to the next stage, so it’s closer to the capacity at Launceston and Hobart in future years,” Kent told the Herald Sun.

“We need to make (Round 22) a great success and show what demand there is in Ballarat for a venue of that size.”

Kent said the allocation of tickets wasn’t finalised, but urged Dogs fans to secure seats quickly.

“It’s only 11,000 capacity and out of that we’re allocating tourism packages, because part of the whole arrangement with us, the state government and the city of Ballarat is to promote the city.

“We’ve got over 43,000 members, so they won’t all be coming.

“People are used to not buying their tickets and seats until quite close to the game. That’s one of the things we’re trying to get the message out to people to take up these offers.

“When general tickets go on sale there’s going to be a pretty big rush.”

The Dogs are selling $140 three-game Ballarat memberships and $75 add-ons to residents in the region.

Power business and marketing manager Matthew Richardson said their fans were already making inquiries.

“Our members and supporters like when we play in Victoria and we get a good number travelling to games,” Richardson said.

“We also have several thousand Victorian members who have access with their memberships. The ‘away’ club always gets an allocation for their members and we are sure this game will be no different.”

AFL fixturing boss Travis Auld said it was too early to predict demand for the Round 22 clash.

“At the moment (Eureka Stadium) is considered to be a good size, certainly to launch games into Ballarat,” Auld said.

“The facility is going to be outstanding as a regional ground. It’ll have everything you need to host a home-and-away game.

“Over time we’ll have to assess whether there’s opportunity to further expand the ground.”

The ground readied for a local BFL clash tomorrow between North Ballarat City and Redan. The game was meant to be played tonight under lights but was switched to tomorrow afternoon partly because of safety reasons and also because suplimentary lighting under the roof hasn't been installed yet.

20,000 capacity would require the new Eastern terrace which is under construction and eight rows deep to have its roof removed and to be extended back 16 rows. That would increase capacity to around 16,000. The existing pavilion would then need to be demolished to make way for at least another 4000 seat stand. That would be expensive as a new Social Club and player and match staff facilities would all need to be rebuilt. It's achievable, but the Bulldogs would have to make a long term commitment and guarantee four games per season to justify that expense.

Will it eventually have grandstands right around the ground after stage 3?
