Gets a lot better about 1/3 in, once you open up access to the second area and unlock some additional traversal abilities.

The scale and versatility of movement from that point on is amazing. Really opens up the exploration with the amount of height you can gain.

Yep definitely. Only pain in the backside is being a completionist collecting all the memento's and tapes and having to scale some of the larger buildings, haha.

Did you play it in co-op? Is it worth a go there?

been playing Valheim with my gf. it's good to play it slow-paced, previously I'd only played it with mates who rush everything and I had no idea what's going on as they just want to rush to bosses and hand me gear to keep up

game is really really fun. the progression is just the right speed. not a lot of hand-holding and satisfying when you find something that unlocks a heap of new recipes. feels like we still have dozens of hours to go in it

Nah, I only did it single player so can't comment on how the co-op stacks up.

Been back at work since the start of October after long service leave, which has naturally affected my game playing time, but I have hit a bit of a wall. I want to play something in the evenings, sit down and ... end up here or on YouTube haha

I get in those ruts too. Sometimes you have the time so you feel like you need to game to make the most of it, but your brain just doesn't want to commit to having to think so you just scroll Youtube or reels for an hour until it's too late to bother starting anything.

At the moment though my time is split between God of War Ragnarok when I'm solo, or Helldivers 2 when the boys are on, and Rocket League is having a bit of a resurgence with a few of us too.

The biggest issue is the character looks exactly like my brothers ex wife.

It's an amazing game. You won't regret it.

Also, sounds like your brother was (temporarily) a very lucky man

Started RDR2 last night. Didn't get very far in but I did enjoy the small part I played. Can see myself enjoying this greatly.

For the multitude that've played it, how big is the game? I assume there's plenty of side quests.

Eerie atmosphere but it's just a really good action game. Probably one of the only games where I stopped to read most collectibles and the tie in to Alan Wake is really cool.

A good 50 - 60 hours for the story. 80+ if you take on a lot of side content

I wouldn't necessarily say plenty of side quests per-se. While there are side quests a lot of what will take up your time is exploring and hunting.

So that's my plan, full on guns blazing no time to be scared haha. I've also found my self actually reading all the collectable too rather than just ticking them off a list.

I've heard nothing but good things so thats why I wanted to play. I wont be playing with my headphones on though, just my soundbar so I don't get too freaked out by the ambience.

Yes. To upgrade your camp and pouches to allow you to carry more items. There are plenty of checklists floating around that you can browse to see what you need for upgrades.

Early impressions are good and resource management is like a slightly dumbed down Manor Lords. I also love Manor Lords but the early game micromanagement with juggling and assigning families can be a bit much.

i’ll probably grab it at xmas but having played all of the previous ones more or less it scratches a city building itch well

Tested my might in Mortal Kombat X, nothing like a bit of button mashing to get the blood pumping



Funny thing is I did it easily with Sub-Zero, but struggled as the Alien. Barely got it done as Scorpion just before.

Have played the previous Anno games.

I do like them but once you start upgrading your residents the resources and their needs become greater and more exotic which can get really overwhelming trying to make everyone happy the only thing i don't like about the games imo.

Is it more the same in this one?

Yep it's pretty similar. That's pretty much what these games are about though, setting up complex production chains.
