Giving that its good Friday this week and it got me thinking about charity donations.

Does anyone on bigfooty give to charity.

I always give a little at traffic stops although I find them extremely annoying especially if your passing the same traffic light two, three times in that day.

also depends on what's the cause because I wont give to some random children's Kinda that I saw the other day.

I give a little to the royal children hospital appeal but that's pretty much it- that's pretty good considering my username.

I 'like' various issues on facebook that resonate with my personal beliefs and preferences, I also give a bit of my spare change to salvo's when they shake their tin cans in my face. #activism

Donate monthly to The Wilderness Society. Apart form that just tin rattlers and what not. Does giving to homeless/beggars count?

I once donated 300 dollars to the RCH*

May or may not have been court mandated.

The charities I generally go out of my way to give to are the ones who fund research into disease cures and prevention.

Scouts who man the sausage sizzles outside Bunnings. My son's primary school ones because I'm a sucker for those Caramello Koala's. Funny how my stomach dictates who I give money to...

I will not give a single cent to any charity claiming it wants to 'raise awareness' of a disease. Especially breast cancer or something. "People, mostly women who can be mothers and sisters and daughters, get breast cancer? Really, you don't say! And you're saying that you want more people to be aware of that fact? Well, that's a damn good cause"
*Awareness charities can do a good job, it's just a bit of an annoyance I guess when things like breast cancer are drummed into us and everyone associates pink with breast cancer etc and there are other worthwhile things

-Give to Red Cross regularly
-Gave to Make A Wish foundation once or twice
-Helped a farmer for a day after some floods hit Tasmania, needed a lot of help moving his cattle and so I put in
-If I outgrow/outwear any decent clothes, I give them away to Salvos

That's it. Pretty normal - who throws their clothes in the tip..and most people would give a cash donation every now and then (I give maybe 3 times a year to Red Cross and throw loose change into fundraisers on the street or something)

I also buy a lot of food at fundraisers, pretty sure I single-handedly funded a new well in a poor African country by eating sausages and hamburgers at one fundraiser :thumbsu:

When I buy Grill'd I always put the little bottle cap into one of the charity jars
I also do some volunteering through work to raise money for the Good Friday Appeal. If I see people at Shopping centres I may give money to them. I have done so to the paralympic committee and the special olympics committee recently.

I don't do anything officially

I put my change in the Ronald house at maccas, throw coins in random tin cup drives etc. buy the legacy stuff when those days come around

Recently donated in a drive to a direct mental health clinic with residence etc. it was started by an ex patient who knew they were struggling. We were able to raise around 12k in a day with a few challenges and random donations (ie ill donate $100 if this guy does this etc). The clinic was pretty shocked and said they'd use the money on new recreational stuff which they were really lacking in and could also bring in an extra staff member when needed

It's a good idea, especially getting feedback from where the money is going and how it will help out, it was also a fun day

I give everytime Wikipedia has those pop ups begging for money. Yes I realize that any information on the site has to be viewed with at least some suspicion, but where else can you look at breasts and vaginas while at work and claim you're doing scientific anatomical research? Yeah, there's nude roman statues but it's not quite the same, is it?
