And who do you drop for Faulkner?

For me personally considering I don't see Clarke as being fit, Clarke should sit out. Sometimes the hardest decisions are the right ones. Replace Clarke (inj.) with Shaun Marsh for safety.

On what basis do you consider him to not be fit?

He is hardly moving out there, and frankly you need to be 100% and more to win a WC. Lets not mention that the side has done better with Bailey captaining.

Yes, I'm sure you've got a better sense for these things than CA's fitness staff.

Because we lost one game?

Clarke's captaincy didn't cause that batting collapse.

The same CA staff that said he was 'fit' for the UAE tour despite running around like a turtle. The same CA staff that declared him fit before the Perth ODI and he re injures him hamstring. Or how about the Adelaide test? Another stellar decision there by CA medical staff.

They haven't got a great recent record

Just so we're clear, are you saying you are better equipped to assess Clarke's fitness than CA staff?

Even though you watch him on TV while they assess him in person.

Is that what you're saying?

Never said that but he physically looks unfit. CA have a very poor record of player welfare recently. From Clarke to Cummins to Pattinson. All have been rushed back purely on the advice of the medical staff.

And rely on Maxwell and Faulkner/Marsh for 10 overs each?
If his overs are so 'crucial' lol. Bat the useless bastard at 11.

I'm sick to death of him in either ODI's or tests making us two for **** all with his constant low scores.

He needs to **** off frankly.

Generally, I agree. But it's illogical to single him out when the entire top seven fails. Maybe a bare pass for Warner.

So did the Geelong medical staff rush Menzel back too early? After all he's injured himself more than once, first game back.

I'll give you the Adelaide example. That one seems plausible.

The others are purely scuttlebutt and guesswork.

The key difference is the others have succeeded at some point in the recent past. Shane has been failing long before this game.

Then the emphasis should be on his long-term lack of runs rather than one match where everyone was shit.
To be fair I've been consistent in wanting him out for a while now. As each match and innings pass, he gives me no reason to change my view.

Just fails time after time after time.

Sure. But today's debacle doesn't necessarily advance that argument.
How exactly?

He's the batsmen surely in the gun. Has failed for a while now, and failed again.

What his teammates did today is irrelevant to the Shane Watson debate.

He shouldn't be getting a free pass on this game just because his teammates were just as horrible.

He made more than Clarke, Smith, Maxwell and Marsh combined.

Australia lost so there are no free passes. Nor should you go the opposite direction and single him out when they all sucked.

Well I think he was more at fault than players who got out almost straight away. Getting a start then throwing it away is far worse. Always has been and always will be, and it looks particularly poor if you are one of the most experienced players in a team.

At least Watson's shot was on, he just mishit it. Clarke and Finch both had spent some time at the crease and their shot selection was woeful.

They had 2 short covers in, still have no idea what Clarke was thinking.

Is this sarcasm ?

I cant believe how Finchy's cavalier shot to throw away his wicket is getting overlooked by so many, absolutely horrible!
He has credits in the bank, that's why. Watson has been out of credits for a while.
