The first one that came into my head was Lenny Kravitz - Are You Gonna Go My Way.

A bunch of the ones already mentioned are fantastic, but just to add some other hooks that I think are brilliant:

Iggy Pop - Bored
The Meters - Cissy Strut
RATM - Sleep Now In The Fire
Funkadelic - Hit It And Quit It
The Cure - Boys Don't Cry

As someone else said, it's merely scratching the surface and you could keep listing songs for hours...

If a song is used in multiple advert campaigns on TV, I don't think it can be underrated

They did some terrific material early on, but what a fall from grace in their later years - one of the biggest declines in rock music (and there have been some stinkers)
