He looked like the big kid in the under 12's at times. Dominated games with his sheer presence. Whatever people may say about his off field antics or personality he was an awesome footballer, the best I have ever seen.

You do realise that plenty depends on the team surrounding you, G.Ablett in the 89 GF was head and shoulders above anything Carey did in a GF.....the fact that G.Ablett's team didn't win wasn't his fault

Just like north winning wasn't solely based on Carey, they had much better players in each winning GF

I thought some of the Cats teams that played in those Grand Finals were better than the Roos. Taking Carey and Ablett out.

Carey would have loved having Bairstow, Hocking and Couch kicking it to him out of the centre instead of Rock, Simpson and Stevens.

The reason this poll stated was that some Essendon supporters rate Hird a Legend and Carey not. Clearly they have no idea as Carey like Ablett was at another level when talking about the likes of Hird.

True, the cats sides were very talented, but perhaps not tough enough?

they were all brilliant teams, really top quality

G.Ablett's performance in 89 was one of the best individual GF performances of all time, yet dapperdon said that Ablett couldn't get his team over the line, while Carey could........that is a silly comment, when u consider how great g.Ablett was in 89
