Injury What is wrong with Wojac?

Why doesnt Wojac run with the ball any more? The first half of 2007 he was one of the players off half back that set our team alight, now the bloke cant crack the firsts and I havent seen him run through the middle or down a wing in a long while.

A few have said he could have been the difference in the 2008 GF if picked, I dont think so with how he plays now days. His needs to break he lines to be affective.

Is it injury?

Too old?

Confidence?

Anyone?!

Er....he was in the firsts but got injured in the 2nd qtr last week.

Okay so he can get into the firsts but he has been in and out on form not just injuries over the last 18 months.

I dont think he is having the impact and creating the run that he once did. Why?

Its frustrating because we all know how dynamic he is when he gets the ball but these instances are few and far between. Perhaps if he was pushed up the ground as a wingman this would give him more freedom, because as a defender he is a bit limited.

Agree wing would be his best position. Should be the player to run forward carry the ball from centre bounce clearances and also the player to look for over the back of a zone where he will have space to carry the ball into the forward line.
We are using midfielders as wingers and I think the wing is a more specialized position for lighter faster players. I think Varcoe could also play this role

I was just pointing out your mistake.He's been in the firsts for the past 5 games and is only out because of injury.

You're right.

His number of blistering runs has not been as high per game as it was in 2007 or early 2008. Maybe his role has changed? When he kicks at full tilt its a bit shakey. Maybe the club is telling him they want him to break the tackles, run a bit but then handball off instead of running the next 20m and kicking?

The bigger question is whether he'll be offered another contract.

As i understand it he's out of contract at seasons end, and given he turns 29 next month his future would have to be up in the air.

Perhaps a one year contract might be the best option.

He did have a good run a few weeks ago might have been against Hawks, he still has the speed but remember other teams allow us less space than they used to so, it's hard to get him free out on the wing for a glory run. He is a bit of a one-trick pony.

I like the look of Taylor Hunt who looks like he could play nicely at HBF in the seniors, he does have a very good hand ball on him I noticed today.
