After the home and away round of course.

I still believe we can make the eight.
With new blood and new coaches we will be heavily competitive...

bottom line:confused:...hard draw, untested rehabs, spots up for grabs,Edwards will shine as a small forward and win his first Yellow Jacket tied with Robert Shirley;).

I see this year as a transition from finals also-rans to finals also-rans with "games under their belts" sub conciously eyeing the big picture the following year later for our tilt at the flag.

I'd like to think we're good enough to make the eight, but think if we do we'll only be making up the numbers and won't get deep into September. Don't see us finishing any lower than 10th or 11th.

i said 7th but i think it will be really close between 4-13 because anyone could be up there. hope we make the 8:thumbsu:

I reckon we'll make the 8, but we'll probably be knocked out of the finals in the first week AGAIN!
But really, I don't care - as long as we finish above Port :p hahaha.

I think we'll be 5th or so again.

Loss and decline of experienced players will be offset by the improvement from our younger brigade.
Tough draw will be offset by a stronger (in my opinion) coaching staff.

I think the wheels will fall off this year. Thirteenth. We'll continue to play the old guard but they will struggle with form and fitness. We'll catch on too late that we need to press forward with the youngsters but the poor results will actually be a blessing in disguise because it is the only way the kids will get a game.

Top four 2011 :)

I have plenty of confidence in our list and IMO we are definitely good enough to make the 8

Yes our draw is tougher than 2008, however I would not have it any other way

Traditionally we are fit, well drilled and very disciplined, now we have a little more talent on our list and with our young group we have plenty of scope for improvement...

IMO, Proplyzia, Thompson, Radar, Vince, VB, Knights and Maric are the key group of players that need to take that next step to become elite footballers and take over from Goody, Edwards and Macca

In summary the comp is very even, our list is talented enough, I am confident that with a bit of luck and with continue development of our young players we will be playing finals in 2009 :thumbsu:

I think you're about right here, like last year, I think there will be a lot of teams between the 13 and 10 wins mark which will mean that the it will be important to win the games which we "should" win, ie against the lower ranked sides.

Due to our strong defence and solid midfield/ruck division, I cant see us dropping out of this mid range group, so I've ticked the 8th box. If our forward line functions well, I think we could be a top 4 chance, having said that, if we get injuries to a couple of key players (ie Rutten, Bock, Thompson, Mcleod, Goodwin, Edwards) then we will struggle to make the 8.

This year, isn't our year however, so I'm not going to be too fussed about our results, as long as we see some good development from our younger players. 2010 and more likely 2011 will be the years IMO we should be really start pushing for a top 4 spot.

i think anywhere between 1st and 16th

pretty silly making predictions without even seeing us in a nab cup game.. (my 2 cents anyway..)

By that logic it's pointless ever discussing anything during the preseason.

I voted 7th, I see 2009 as a year where we take five steps backwards and five steps forward simulatenously. I see the Crows as standing in a wave with their feet dug in the sand. Instead of crashing down to the bottom, they've hung in and been "average", and now the wave is about to turn. In 2010 we should start our climb back up the ladder.

nab cup throws eggs at peoples faces ...Just ask James Sellar eh?
Rock n rolled in Dubai and soon he wants to make it back to back in Australia;)

Pick a range shorting than 16...

Exactly, NAB cup form says absolutely nothing, Carlton won 2 in 3 years I think and yet finished either bottom or close to it in the real season.

I selected us to finish tenth.

I can speculate as to where I think improvement will come from, I just don't think it will materialise next season. We still cant kick enough goals and injuries hurt us a bit more these days because our depth is a little thin at the moment. Chuck in a challenging draw and I think it will be difficult for us to make the eight.

Our time will come I just don't think it will be next season. But with the current list its hard to envisage us not improving and being a contender in the future.

Or kick straight enough but thats another ball of wax.
As Dylan123 pointed out; between 4th and 13th could be seperated by accurate goalkicking or "The Bock Factor".

I think we are capable of finishing in the top 4 after 22 rounds in 2009 but I'm not going to garuntee that. We should have last year and we were very unlucky to end up having that home final against Collingwood and it wasn't our fault, just rotten luck. I was devastated when we lost 4th spot. I thought the Crows gave it their all in 2008 and we had some excellent wins (round 3 showdown, round 22, etc), there were a few bad games but more good than bad in 2008. I see us as a stronger team in 2009, and a Super Team in a few years time if things go well.

8th, I think we have the team to make the finals but there are alot of teams that are going to be pushing for finals and can evenly match us IMO so we could easily miss out. But I think we will make it.

asuming we go 0-4 against hawks and cats (most likely scenario) then we would normally have to win 12 of the remaining 18 games to make the finals which i just cant see happening (esp as we also play saints, pies and power twice)

crows to finish just outside of the 8 but blood kite, petrenko, mc kernan, sloane, cook and gallman with lots more games into danger, otten, sellar and jacky.

things should then turn up in 2010

Haha 0-4...that brings back memories from 2008 when Port were 0-4...then a few games later - they declared 2008 over. Let's just hope our coach and captain don't give up until, mathematically, we can't make the finals (if that happens, that is. We could pull off a miracle and beat both 2008 grand finalists......but I think thats about as likely as Donnelly making his debut for us this year :p haha, but we never know until it happens!) I reckon we'll beat Collingwood though! :thumbsu: Just as long as we have a full 22 side for the WHOLE game, because we would've won the game against them at the MCG last year if Porps and Burton didn't go down..or even if only one of them went down.
