Well, we've seen all the articles. Hird finished, blah blah blah, Hird won't last two more years, blah blah blah.

Now we have all sorts of footy experts telling us what we should do with him. Put him on the bench. Force him to retire. Tell him to take a year off. Put him in a forward pocket.

Well, what should we do with James Hird?

Has anyone tried telling this to the man's face?

Didn't think so!!

The man will stick it right up em ... Sheedy included ... you wait and see.

Hird will play the odd good game and Essendon supporters will say " Aahhh he`s back" But if he keeps getting picked of course he`ll play well here and there. Would the match committee have the nads to drop him ? Don`t be silly. Mercuri will be the sacrificial lamb. Football is passing Hird by.

Just leave him out there.

I don't see the point in paying him however much it is we pay him if he's only going to play off the bench in spurts.

He's just about the unluckiest player in the competition.

He's not playing his best at the moment either, remember, yet he's still better than the rest of our guys.......pretty scary when you think about it.

The only way he's going to get back to his best, and indeed the only way Essendon are going to get back to their best, is if Hird is on the ground playing.

If he gets another smashed head, then there's not really much you can do about it.

Maybe he should think a little more and stop being so courageous.

If anybody has earned the right to play the thinking game out there and not be criticized for it, it's James Hird.

i said put him down back , but i would like him to kick goals as well. So a foreward pocket aint out of the question.

It's only round 3. There was a vast improvement in his form this week (also remembering that he virtually didn't play in round one). He'll be Ok as long as they manage him well. He should keep playing on the ball and rotating through the forward line.

If there's a major fitness worry, then perhaps a week or two off will help.
