Up by 30 in the 2nd. Comfortable lead. All the momentum. Then they kick the next 5 or 6 goals which helps them beat us by a goal. I was shattered last night. Just couldnt believe we let a 30 point lead go like that and that we'll never see Roosy on the field again. We might see Kirky as a coach

I doubt Kirky will ever coach, inability to kick goals was what cost us.

piss off to your own board.

He isn't wrong as Grundy had a shocker on Hall.

I think it comes down to mental weakness as that is the 2nd time in 2 weeks that we were comfortably winning and then for no reason we suddenly turn into a VFL team and get smashed for a quarter. If we were mentally stronger we wouldn't have these really really really bad quarters (ie the 3rd quarter against Carlton and the Western Bulldogs).

Of course if Bradshaw kicked straight it would have helped.

I dont give a **** if it is right or wrong.

If posters go on other team boards and name players after a gutting finals loss then they are told to **** off and usually banned. This board should be no different. The mods on our board do a great job, it just seems that many Swans posters dont mind being trolled.

this^..Bardshaw killed us. Brave call, but in the end he cost us the match. To miss those goals in a final is criminal. He undid all the hard work down field and nothing he did couldn't have been done by Jesse, who was at least fit. But, i digress, and refuse to blame the umpires:o, and am looking forward to next year, and not seeing TDL shell shocked ever again.

1. Grundy drops a simple mark, Hall goals. Then from the centre bounce, Hooper gets a soft free and converts.
2. Mumford not starting the 3rd quarter (Not by choice) and Hudson dominated Pyke in that period
3. Missing all those chances in the 3rd quarter.

Guys, I know at the moment most swans supporters would be guttered, believe me I know the pain given that the crows have been eliminated by Hawthorn and Collingwood in recent years on virtually the last kick of the night...

However congrats on a very good year, the Swans last year drafted and traded better than any other club and this was refleced in your season...

Last night, those few minutes just before half time cost tou badly, the difference between the Dogs going in 16pts down instead 30pts down was absolutely significant to the outcome.........

Again congrats on a very good year and all the best to Roos and Kirk for the future

you lost the game at the selection table last night. Bradshaw was a big mistake. Brian lake was playing on 1 leg last night. Jessie white would have monstered lake last night and done much more at ground level. Why the hell wasn't rohan playing? He is a jet. Mumford and O'keefe look like they were shot. Why is there now love for Bevan?

By the way you lucky bastards are getting a star in that young Mitchell boy.

Hey i wish you guy got up but the facts are Grundy cost your team maybe 4 or 5 goals in the first half that were stoppable.
Conceded easy hitup leads to Hall early that dont go down as clangers but can be stopped by playing infront.
Even Minson got hitup on a lead with Grundy tailing him in the second quarter but Minson didnt goal but by this stage i was thinking that this guy is down.
Then the bigger ones came not long after, the one on one duel against Hall where he couldnt spoil and then the 2 dropped marks that cost goals to Hall and the kid who hadnt even had a kick yet in Grant.
Momentum was lost and the Dogs got back into the game.

i aint trolling just calling it as i see it.
Grundy has had a great year but his game was costly last night, its just the truth.

Summed up what i thought. Grundy really struggled. He has been very capable this year but really battled with Barry.

Those claiming he is a spud clearly haven't been watching all year properly. you don't win points for timing your posts well.

Went into the game with ROK, Mummy, Bradshaw not 100% fit and the former 2 not able to contribute to the best of their abilities. Add to that Kirky and Jude picking up head knocks and it made it very difficult to run out the 2nd half.

Too many passengers. Bolton, Mumford, O'Keefe and Kirk due to injuries. Dennis-Lane due to a lack of supply. Moore due to a lack of any footballing skill or ability.

Thanks, hero.

TDL was being very well marked by Easton Wood. Not given an inch. Constantly being harassed and bumped and it seemed he was given clear instructions to be at him all night and not give him the slightest bit of space. As if he was told don't worry about getting away and finding the footy cause on turnovers TDL often finds space to link up. Wood played him very well and completely shut him out of the game.

Moore not being able to keep up with Harbrow was a major factor in the Dogs getting the lead. He was the reason they won the lead IMO. His continual run and long kicking through the lines really hurt us. Was a smart move for Eade to play him on Moore and i think it is getting more and more common for coaches to realise Moore can be really exposed when a quick, creative defender plays on him.

Bit harsh to go Grundy for being beaten on the lead. If there is space for a forward like Barry Hall to lead into, no backman will beat him, ever. I will go Grundy though for lapses in concentration. I mentioned this in a thread some time ago and got sprayed for it. Worst thread ever many said. Well he was our most senior tall defender last night, and dropped a couple of sitters. That is simply concentration.

My seats weren't brilliant, I was behind the goals, but I thought McVeigh was ineffective last night. Too slow to move the ball on when there were good options up the ground and allowed the Dogs to get back and fill space.

I was a big critic, though not on here, of the decision to pick Bradshaw. On that I was wrong. If you don't pick him, it's never because he won't kick straight. What he was able to do deep in the forward line was stuff Jesse White can't do. I'd have still played White, but as a CHF.

TDL has been good for a few weeks now, but got killed last night. I felt he didn't do enough to create opportunities for himself or space for other forwards.

Injuries to Kirk, Mumford, and Bolton were costly. O'Keefe shouldn't have been playing.

There is a heap of upside to this team. Bird, Reid, Rohan, and White weren't in that side and you would expect improvement from them.

I'm excited.

ROK shouldn't have played...he was just as poor as he was against carlton, he made it sound like his injury fluctuated but i don't believe that was the case...it was a bit of a worry after the carlton game where he admitted he had the groin injury but believed he'd altrered his game to cover up his deficiencies...i really don't think he was aware of how poorly he played...

either ROK or Moore (or both) should have been left out...Bevan should have played...

alot of players went into their shells tonight...Bevan has proven that he can perform on the big stage...he should've definitely been included...

grundy had a tough day at the office...

Wrong?

1. The obvious lapse inconcentration 3 minutes before half time. One of the worst aspects of Swans in recent 3 yrs. They will not power on with a big margin and bury a side.

2. Bradshaws misses were costly but excusable due to first game back since r9! He tried hard

3. Grundy was not to blame IMHO. Remember he was a struggling fringe player with 3 isolated games when BBBH was co-captain . Hard to beat that mental issue. Ted at least had played regualrly in the side.

Right?

1.Kennedy really came of age.

2.Kirky said he was physically and mentally exhausted .He made the right call.

3. To play a season without C Bolton, later without LRT, play a rugby convert not yet confident of kicking but massive improvement instead of ruckman recruited forNo1 spot , lose one specialist spearhead Bradshaw for half a season, cement Jack and Hanners and McGlynn as emerging stars to watch, and build depth in likesof Rohan Jetta TDL Smith Grundy etc.....

.......then be one kick from a PF!!!! ......which would been against aside who Swans always trouble.......

......WAS A SENSATIONAL seasons EFFORT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:thumbsu:

All of you, grow a pair of balls! Seriously grow a big sack of balls.
Remove that Sydney Swans tag from your name, and you can put it back on when you earnt it.

Bradshaw did a good job, more serviceable then White but then again his knee did hamper him.

Everyone did a top job, except Grundy.

But we still dont need to hear this bullcrap on the forum... Sound like Norf supporters.

you guys did really well last night, and had us on toast in 2nd.

it was just the last 5 mins of the 2nd where you faded a bit to give us 2 goals, and the momentum and a bit of belief that got us back in the game

and poor kicking for goal in 3rd didnt help either - the last quarter could have gone either way - its just the luck in footy

i was happy the dogs made a guard of honour to send off kirky after the game ! that was good

cheers

Dennis-Lane due to a lack of supply. Moore due to a lack of any footballing skill or ability.

Ha, lack of supply? TDL just totally went missing. It was tough going, and he didn't manage to find his own ball. Jarrad Moore suffered the same 'lack of supply' as TDL, but still managed to set up a couple of goals. But S120 is right - he got run off his feet by Harbrow.

It is, I think, something to worry about with TDL. He can do some brilliant things, but he needs to put on a bit of weight, and learn how to make himself useful when we're on the back foot, or when he's getting close attention.

Hopefully TDL does put on a bit more weight (in an article i read he said he had indeed got a lot stronger this year)l, but he'll never be the sort of "get-out kick" kind of player. In that he won't be a player we want standing under long kicks under the kind of pressure seen in finals. He is a perfect small, leading forward candidate though who will get under the feet of the forwards that we DO target with such a long bomb, like a Bradshaw/Jesse/Goodes and be a great lead up target inside 50.

Easton Wood not getting enough credit for the job done on TDL i feel. Eade clearly recognised that he has been our best and most dangerous forward over the last 5 or so weeks and got a man to just be on his hammer all night. Bumping/harassing all night and not giving a metre to work in. And the job was done very well by Wood. Just wasn't TDL's night. No problem with that, he pretty much got us over the line last week in his finals game after all.

He'll have plenty of good ones TDL, don't worry about him.

Nothing that couldn't have been done by Jesse? How about 4 contested marks? How about several marks inside 50? Fair enough he missed 3 really easy chance. I was as frustrated by them as anybody. But he also converted 3. Given White's goal average this year, I think it's fair to say Braddy did more than White would have.

I can't wait to see you guys get beaten by Collingwood this Friday. Your guys reign has come to an end. Pies or Saints will win flag. NOT YOU GUYS!!!!
