Retirement is still about 40 years away for me but i already cant wait to retire. Starting to think of things Im wanna do already.

Pretty standard, but I cant wait to winnebago it around Australia with the missus.

Cant wait to play seniors tennis too. Then eat sandwiches.

Im also going to build a f*ck-off huge model railway in my garage. And a massive Aurora AFX slot car racing track with grandstands.

Bring it on.

Ha -

Wait until you are too old to do the stuff you want to do? What a f*cking waste of time -

I will not be able to retire (and I will not be the only one) - Old age pension will not exist and superannuation schemes will be bankrupt by the time I am old enough to withdraw it (bookmark it) -

Once the baby boomers are gone and have swallowed way more than their fairshare, there will be sweet f*ck all for the rest of us - Working until I die, the age of economic rationalism -

Our civilisation has become so advanced that we let the economy control us - Evolution for the win -

Jayzus - i agree with this. The babyboomers have fked everything.

We'll be working for $2 a day to compete with 3rd world countries.

I work with 50+ men whom people feel sorry for because they're trying to make sure there is a position for themselves before retirement kicks in - where else could they get a job this good, given their age?

I reckon soon enough there will be zero job security (people spend such a short amount of time in jobs these days that pay outs are so small they're a joke anyway). You can get restructured out of job now, soon it will be easier - there will be no workers rights thanks to the gina reinharts of the world (is she the worst person on the planet or what?)

Retiree sandwiches and lunches are the absolute best. My old tennis club had some classic, triangular sandwiches. And when we did lawn bowls in high school, I'd check out the clubrooms... fuark. Those sandwiches and cakes... Old Aussie nanas are the best things in the world.*

*no, not to have sex with...

With the Fair Work Act/IR/ER laws at the moment, keeping your job has never been easier....if you get fired just lawyer up.

i'll never understand why people work hard through their 20's and 30's with the view of "enjoying retirement"... i've seen people retired, whilst most are enjoying it, they certainly aren't enjoying it to the extent one can through their 20's.... they seem more content and happy with things, but are definately "going through the motions" to a certain extent.

my 20's have been have been my retirement. whilst i have **** all in tangible assets to show for it now, the ****load of memories, 2 separate year long overseas trips, a 3 month trip, a completely lack of responsibility (to an extent), and at least 2 more years of travel in me, i'm pretty comfortable with the way things have gone.

if that means working a few years extra at the end then so be it... but if all goes to plan, i just might end up retiring before all those people who have been telling me "what are you doing with yourself?".... **** that would be the sweetest. the look on the **** sucking faces would be priceless. and even if it doesn't happen that way, i can handle a few extra years in front of a computer. it's not like it's going to be additional years grinding out a trade or something like that, which i can understand people not wanting to do well into their 60's....

Why not do these now? What's the point of pretending you don't like 'kids' stuff when you do? Not having the space is the only thing that stops me having a model railroad now. Unless you're a teenager and have to pretend you don't like anything anyone under 18 would enjoy for peer pressure reasons, don't deny yourself for no good reason.

One of the best things about having kids, IMO, is having good excuses to get back into all the things you loved as a kid then 'had' to stop liking.

also i misread the title... thought it said "when yill you retire?'.... my rant still stands

Heavy BT...

Guess whats stopping me now from doing these things is:

- Having to go to work and do study/PD for career development
- Having interests and hobbies now that I know I wont be able to do when Im older (playing competitive footy, doing late night gigs with the band, partying on the weekends).
- Using my $$$ to party and socialise, pay off my mortgage and improve my house and travel overseas which are priorities for me and the missus. These hobbies are expensive.
- Model trains and slot cars are considered dawky when your in your 20's
- A lack of room

These hobbies are things Im looking forward to when I have all that time on my hands. Im preparing myself for it. I reckon if I start them now the novelty will wear off.

The plan is to not work a day past 60. After that, laze about in a hammock most days reading books and sleeping. Might learn to cook. Try to keep fit semi Tom Hafey style. Have a beer with lunch every day for the rest of my life.

**** retirement, live now.

If I keep smokin' these lungers, 'tis somethin' I won't have to worry about (if not, I'm gonna take my li'l pile o' super and live in a 3rd world country)
Beira, Mocambique. On the water cheap and plentiful beer, pot and seafood. Average Australian super will see your twilight years out nicely there.

probably just hang around the house and get angry at everything because my backs ****ed my knees are ****ed I cant walk in the cold and havent gotten my rocks off in 5 years

neighbours will hate me, ill try to drive somewhere and everyone will beep at me for going too slow, so ill probably just end catching ****in trams everywhere and wasting my time

boring, medial tasks will become my hobbies because my body cant handle anything stressfull and everyone hates me anyway. Ill probably think theyre the ones with the problems though and theres nothing wrong with a go slow approach

cant ****in wait

I will do what I do now, which is absolutely nothing.

Would hope to live by the beach and do nothing but play golf, play bowles and smash beers.

Im pretty much retired now and im not even 30 yet. My body is too ****ed to work anyway. I just live off the income from rental properties. The key to doing nothing is

1- Read/Research a interest
2- Help others/interfere in others lives
3- Eat well/go out for meals alot
4- Dont sleep too much. You will get fat otherwise
5- Keep your brain active and find some form of competitive outlet
