Not perfect but

New South Wales
B: Phil Davis (GWS), Dougal Howard (StK), Harry Cunningham (Syd) (GWS)
HB: Zac Williams (Car), Dane Rampe (Syd), Braeden Campbell (Syd)
C: Isaac Smith (Gee), Jacob Hopper (GWS), Harry Perryman (GWS)
HF: Nick Blakey (Syd), Taylor Walker (Ade), Isaac Heeney (Syd)
F: Errol Gulden (Syd), Tom Hawkins (Gee), Josh Bruce (WB)
Fol: Jarrod Witts (GC), Jack Steele (StK), Callum Mills (Syd)
IC: Luke Breust (Haw), Tom Green (GWS), Harrison Himmelberg (GWS), Matthew Flynn (GWS)

Potenial Subs: Jeremy Finlayson (GWS), Michael Gibbons (Car), James Bell (Syd), Todd Marshall (PA)

Coach: John Longmire (Syd)

This is a team GC2015 created last year so there would be some changes into 2022. For starters Blakey is a half back now but you get the general idea.

Also Matthew Kennedy did not make the cut last year but he would be in the team in 2022 as he is a much better player now.
That's a pretty bloody competitive side

Great thread. But what would be really interesting is if it would be possible to make a state of origin team from 2000 onwards that could beat the AFL team of the 20th century. Anybody reckon they could do it?

Was just reading about it a moment ago. Geez Wagga and surrounds has produced some good sportsmen and women
AFL: Wayne Carey, Paul Kelly, Bill Mohr (800 goals for St Kilda), Luke Breust, Isaac Smith, Cam Mooney, Harry Himmelburg

NRL: Peter Stirling (legend), the Mortimer brothers (Steve Peter & Chris), Jamie Soward

Australian test XI: Mark Taylor (7500 runs), Michael Slater (5200 runs), Geoff Lawson (200 wickets)

Steve Elkington (US PGA winner)

Tony Roche (French Open winner)

Patrick Dwyer (4x400m Olympic silver)

It really is. People are often surprised when they see the actual NSW/ACT team on paper. It could genuinely beat the South Australian State of Origin team, in fact it probably would beat the South Australian team.
They wouldn't want any injuries or sore players..

Outside of their best 22, there are only another dozen or so AFL-listed players from NSW (most of them unknown kids)

I didnt realise Phil Davis was from NSW

A NT/Queensland/Tasmania Allies team

FB Howe, Andrews, kolojashnij
HB Pearce, May, Aliir
C Hall, Weller, D Rioli
HF Mihocek, Hipwood, Motlop
FF J Reiwoldt, Brown, Cameron
FOL Nakervis, Greenwood, Parfitt
INT Chol, W Rioli, Webster, Dixon

Some really great talls both down back and up forward. A poor midfield though

Ill have a go at the WA team:

B: Will Powell Sam Taylor Starcevich
HB: Jordan Clark Marcus Adams Rich
C: Acres Patrick Cripps Chad Warner
HF: Colyer Aaron Naughton Logan McDonald
F: Lobb Franklin Charlie Cameron
Foll: Luke Jackson Shai Bolton Tom Mitchell

Int: Zac Fisher Liam Baker Coniglio Tim English

Top half of the teams dominate my team. With the Eagles struggling badly this season, I found it hard for 1 Eagle player to make my first 22. Defence is the WA strength, and there were some good names that had to be left out.

Don't get me wrong I love Logan McDonald and think he is going to be a very good player but he isn't in the State of Origin sort of discussions yet.

yep he was the first name that I had a bit of debate in my team. I dont rate his game style especially on the SCG grounds.

Struggling to find someone that could replace him?

Josh Kennedy, Darling, Georgiades, Waterman brothers, Ryan, Walters, Taberner all names that have missed injury or large chunks of the season and been in struggling sides.

Sinclair would be well ahead of Saad on current form
I not seen many Saints matches but he never stood out to me in past.
However, had a look at coaches votes for season after your post and he in 31.
That indicates he up there for season so fair call.
Sinclair deserves his spot.

I reckon NSW would be good to have a stand alone team. No need for them to be part of the Allies format. Think it goes to show how much the Swans and Giants how well they are doing.

Id back that NSW team mentioned by RUNVS to beat any WA side at the moment.
There no need for Allies.
Every state could have their own team.
I wish there was two weekends in early March for it every second year and there a first division and second division.
4 best states in division one and the the other 4 states and territories in second division.
NSW would be in division one for example.
SA v VIC and NSW v WA in first weekend. The two winners play second weekend for Australian Championship.
3rd and 4th play off to remain in division one for next championship with loser relegated to division two.

Winner of second division promoted in it's place for next championship two years beyond.
Representatives teams from places like ACT and NT still involved and it is just best from each territory or state whether in AFL or next level down out of AFL.

I wish something like this could be done, but there is no chance the clubs would allow it. The only possible time may be in post-season, where International Rules used to be played. But even then clubs pulled players out for "medical" reasons.

I'm not sure ACT would be competitive against NT or Tas, who themselves would not be able to compete with Qld most years. ACT and international players might just have to play in the state/territory of the first club they played for after age 16 if they don't qualify for any of the competing jurisdictions.
