Thought they love to come back to melbourne and play in front of their equal partners, the former fitzroy fans. Leigh has pledged this several times when talking about home and away games but seems to have changed his tune now it doesnt suit him.

The king of hypocrisy exposed again.

Yes, if the AFL were going to be fair to these twin-town teams, then surely it would be in everyone's best interests to make it so that Sydney and Brisbane are always the first choice sides to have their home finals moved to the MCG.

Brisbane get compensated $600,000 to have their final played in Melbourne.

But you're right, funny how they are quick to forget their heritage.

You're obsessed with the lions. Don't try to deny it.

We do love playing in Melbourne. Fact is, we earned and deserve the home prelim. I'd love to see them here, but I'd much rather see them tear it up at the Gabbatoir.

No matter how many bitter fans (1 in 46 remember) like you try to turn this into a Fitzroy vs Bears argument, it's not going to wash. We're one club.

The only thing that is exposed is the fact that you're just a little dim. Who in their right mind would want to move a game from a venue where they are virtually certainties to a venue where they might be vulnerable? Particularly when the stakes are so massive. There's probably more Collingwood supporters in Brisbane than there are Brisbane supporters in Melbourne. How do you feel about playing Brisbane up here next time you win the right to host us in Melbourne?

Yep. I'm happy to play the preliminary final at the MCG. No doubt as the home side, we'll get home ground privileges such as the pick of the areas Lions fans can view the match from.

Matthews is of course very happy to play in Melbourne. Having said that, he believes that his side probably has a greater chance of success at the Gabba. Seeing that generally the higher placed side usually gets a choice of where they play their final, he's merely putting forward his case for where, as coach, he thinks it should be.

However the AFL has decreed we're off to the MCG, with close to a full side from the players that aren't out for the rest of the year. Looking forward to it!

Like in the '03 QF, when the Lions cheer squad got the choice of where to sit?

I'm not in the cheer squad, I don't give a ******** - just saying is all.

Nail on the head, teams, victorian or otherwise don't choose where they play. I'm sure Melbourne would love to sell a double chance final to Brisbane for a cool $million. Unfortunately for them the AFL do not give them the right to sell it.

Now can someone tell me how the signage rights are sold for finals games at the gabba vs finals at the MCG. Do Brisbane make money from hosting a final at the gabba?

Obviously, you don't seem to understand how the game works in September. It is a fairly important month, and any advantage that has been earned, should not be forfeited, particularly when you have to travel 2000kms.

If a home preliminary final has been earned, why should the earned privilege be lost?

There musn't be much on in canberra tonight eh? What, is the planetarium AND the museum closed tonight?

Maybe its time you went to bed instead of hanging around here waiting for some billy goats.

Reportedly Brisbane will lose an estimated $140,000 in revenue. They have said they will not seek compensation from the AFL. If Brisbane happen to be in the red at the end of the year by < $140k, SOME small-minded, parochial Victorians will be on here posting comments about how pathetic Brisbane's financial situation is quicker than you can say "salary cap".

Do victorian teams make money from hosting finals or does it all goto the AFL?

Ticket sales go to the AFL, but any revenue from parking, catering, ground rentals goes to whoever owns/has agreements at the ground. Brisbane may have an agreement that nets them 140k, it wouldn't surprise me. The SANFL makes a killing from finals at AAMI. Much like the MCC would from finals at the MCG.

Finals at the MCG are unfair wah wah wah.

I'm sick of all this whinging about Brisbane playing at the MCG. Unfair or not it's a rule, just like any others in the game. Brisbane don't mind paying Melbourne to play a home game in Brisbane (probably would if it wasn't against them) but for them to play a home game on the MCG and get paid by the AFL to do it isn't fair.

I've got news for all you Brisbane people out there....lifes not fair and neither is finals football. Example: Geelong finish fourth, St Kilda Third, both higher than Sydney yet the Swans get a home final and they have to go interstate.

Why don't Geelong get to play finals at Skilled Stadium or the Saints at Telstra Dome??? Because they're the rules.

If you want to be guaranteed your home Prelim...finish on top. I don't even get why you whinge so much you're that much better than any other team anyway and the Grand Final is played there so why whinge.

So to finish off............

Build a Bridge and get over it.
