OK, I can't take it nor can I procrastinate anymore-- and no, this has nothing to do with the "Street Talk" expose that Sam Newman did in our town here on "The Footy Show" a few weeks ago...
I've had a few people on these boards (you know who you are), either on the boards directly or in PM or in chat, have a go at me for living in Ballarat.
Personally, I love living here. It's a close proximity to a lot of things-- and if I need to get over to Melbourne, the V-Line gets me there within 90 minutes.
And my wife loves it here, too. She's a Geelong girl, born and bred, but she prefers living here, herself. She'll get more into her preference here in due time, undoubtedly...
This is one of the nicest places I've ever lived or visited, and I've had the pleasure through my line of work of seeing much of the world over the better part of the last few years. Sure, if you don't like the weather here, wait five minutes for it to change (as my father-in-law once told me on my first visit here), but I plan on settling here for good once my status as a permanent resident is awarded by DIMIA in several weeks' time from now...
The Ballarat area has so many positives... Lake Wendouree, Sovereign Hill, the shopping culture up and down Sturt Street... so how come this city gets such a bad rap from some and a complex from others?
Just wondering...
Cheers,
William
