Almost ero interest in a season without crowds.
Will watch Richmond games and that's it.
Understand they need/want to start, but I'm done.
Pretty much feel the same way. I find it hard enough as it is to watch footy on the tv even without the current virus situation. It's over as far as I'm concerned.

The only thing I care about right now is allowing the kids to get back on the park & having some kind of season. It was suppose to be my son's first season of footy this year & he was really looking forward to it.

I can't watch Richmond games live on TV. I get too worked up. I always start watching and then press 'record' turn it off and check the scores after the game and if we win, I'll watch it straight away.
Quite happy to watch the other games of the round. Supercoach has kept me interested in those.

AFL should drop the hammer on MCC and demand use of MCG for any finals. MCC would go bust without the AFL but treats is second class to its beloved cricket. Don’t get me wrong I like cricket... when AFL isn’t on.

1% chance of international cricket or a Boxing Day test this year, so if AFL is going to go ahead with an early Summer Grand Final, it's either have the MCG host it or the MCG lies empty with no cricket.

sauce?

So Vic chief medical officer says no crowds at any events , no overseas travel etc until there’s a vaccine , what’s he going to do if there’s no vaccine ever found ? SARS , MERS never got one .
There's only 3 ways out of it as far as I can see

A vaccine - I'm optimistic. A large part of the reason there's never been a vaccine for a coronavirus is there hasn't been a need for it. To your point, diseases like SARS burnt out quicker than COVID-19 will (naturally anyway) because they floor anyone who gets it, while people with COVID-19 can often go out about their day normally and transmit it, which is another reason. Of course there's a chance they won't get one, but if they do it is the best combination of minimal deaths and moderate lockdowns.

Elimination - this one will 100% work if we chase it, and has the least deaths, but it might take a long time and will require full lockdown which sucks very hard. Also even if Australia eliminates the virus, there will be no travel to any other country who hasn't done so yet.

Herd immunity - by far the most dangerous, it will result in thousands of deaths. It will take years to do it without overloading our medical system as only so many people can have it without a risk of too many needing ICU.

The preferred option for mine comes down to how many people have actually had it and I'd love to see us do random tests to try work out rates in the general population. If most people with it have already tested positive, elimination would be a really good strategy as we could do it fairly quickly and it could be coupled with a hypothetical vaccine further down the track. If it finds a lot of people have gotten it undetected (say 10 times the number of previously tested positives), I'd support a herd immunity route as we could do it more safely and quickly than on current assumptions.

There won’t be any crowds at sporting events indefinitely with the prospect of ever if they want to handcuff themselves to the potential of a vaccine. Quite simply ban international travel incoming and outgoing indefinitely and bring back live sports. I read some wuhan report that of 7000 cases , 2 were from an outdoor location. Which underlines my point , the risk is extremely low

You know, for a bloke called Harry, you are incredibly smart! I am amazed how close we could still be to elimination. Problem is there are enough people who just won't comply. Either utterly selfish, ****ing stupid or just plain ignorant - probably all Collingwood supporters! ;)

they said they had a cure and vaccine a few weeks ago

what happened

I'll add another scenario to your list HTT

new cases heavily supressed but not eliminated
lockdowns gradually rolled back
localised lockdowns in areas of flare ups
international arrivals amoung the last being rolled back , and they could well be 2021 for general public
travelling freely

it will be a brawl between health officials versus accountants , ecomomists and some of the general public
over what gets rolled back , how far and when

just take a look at whats happening in the good old USA, they are riddled with the virus , lost 10,000's and could lose so many more lives and they have mass protests building over the lockdowns

right or wrong a certain number of people will revolt on lockdown measures here too and the longer they go the more wrestless the public will get
the governments will sense it and they will change their tune , especially if that curve remains low and gets lower

we had approx. 900 flu related deaths last year and that's with vaccination
we have not had widescale lock downs due to the flu , its deemed an acceptable risk

games with no crowds to start first june/july
and crowds from Aug/Sept depending on the all important new case numbers

imagine all the State & Federal pollies saying no to crowds at sporting events after two weeks of no new cases Australia wide
then imagine a Melb. Cup carnival before no crowd and gone say 6 new cases in 6 weeks

during the great depression the crowds at the races and football were huge considering the size of the population
and we are going to have an economic depression wash over the world thanks to this virus
the need for distractions like sports and performing arts will be huge

huh huh huh, was that when trump said it was a game changer

Yeah, until he couldn't get a piece of the action, then it was a dud. He's sounding more like Mr 10% the deeper the crisis gets

I never get past drinking the alcohol before I have time to mix it together. It's like trying to make chocolate crackles using Coco Pops!

There is a few drugs they’ve been treating some patients with and they’ve recovered and some docs having success with it overseas . However obviously won’t work on everyone or stop people from getting it etc just stop people dying from it , think it is a maleria drug not sure what other one is .

They are also, in drastic situations, using a drug that blasts blood clots apart, of it's own was not successful, but when used in conjunction with a drip fed blood thinner, they are getting good life-saving results. Lots of things being used around the world, as last resorts, but the upside is this is building peer reviewed experience and research.
