Part 2 of this thread is here:

Mate bad governance at the top makes it very hard for even the best footy teams to win major honours. We’ve seen it plenty with other teams.

It was ugly but not the end of the world. Bad governance would’ve been retaining Teague and not going all in for Clarkson. Ross is not a bad consolation who at minimum makes us competitive and hard to beat. Anything more is a wait and see.

As I said, I think this whole saga will be forgotten in 6 months time. Let’s just hope the decisions from the fall out were the right ones.

One thing we can confirm - Clarko is a smart man. Much smarter than Malthouse.

Could have rushed off to the Blues out of spite for Kennett but has just chilled out.

Take 2022 off. Travel. Do a few courses.

Kick back and watch the game. Work on strategy. Wait for the offers to come in.

Smart.

Except Malthouse took a year off as well, he sat out the 2012 season?

I watched the media conference today, and it was like I was watching a politician speak. Didn't take much from it, other than it was a thorough process, and they won't leave any stone unturned. And Liddle did not look happy either.

I just can't defend the way the club has handled this. Been a total ballsup.

I’m expecting a disgruntled Carlton member to back a truck up to the entrance of Princes Park and empty a load full of stones.

“Here you go Sayers, start turning mate”

Liddle's days will be numbered. He'll be looking for another gig.
Not sure how you are reading this but from what i witnessed in the interview it looked like sayer & Liddle are as thick as thieves and Liddle seems to have sayers confidence and its all systems go for Liddle to now take total control and Rule the helm at Carlton

Liddle is the Chief and looks to now be flexing his powers

* Ross d Boss is now going to become a very very rich man

Cripps/doc/Murphy odds on to be leading the sack group

Although the last-ditch effort was ultimately unsuccessful, CEO Cain Liddle was left in no doubt that several important players would have preferred the board keep Teague for 2022.
Among the players to voice their support were the Curnow brothers, Sam Walsh, Harry McKay, Jacob Weitering and Nic Newman.
Adam Saad, Zac Williams, Caleb Marchbank, Liam Stocker, Liam Jones and Tom De Koning are also believed to have spoken favourably of Teague in the review.
It’s understood a section of the playing group is livid with the board, partly for sacking Teague, but also for dragging it out until the Thursday after the season.
Up until Wednesday evening, there were players who believed Teague’s job was safe.
If true this is a recipe for disaster.

We now find out Sayers was chatting to Ross Lyon and hosting him at his house from mid-year. Do Carlton fans still want to talk about the integrity of the review and waiting for its findings before making any decisions.

What a great way to start your presidency …. canvass others for the coaching job 10-weeks before the review that judged the coach was handed down and before finals were out of the question.

But no…. Carlton fans in here defend the process 🧐.

And Ross then calls out the journo who actually reported on it. Called him disrespectful or something along those lines.

I was taught that integrity is choosing your thoughts and actions based on values rather than personal gain. Ross Lyon has zero integrity.

Welcome to the Carlton Football Club Ross.

Not sure if you're serious or not, but I took almost the exact opposite.

And how about the integrity shown by Richmond and Hardwick sounding out and negotiating with a contracted senior coach whilst his club were in the process of completing an external review?

Carlton openly preferred Clackson if available and finals were out of the question as soon as West Coast, playing a near reserves side in Sydney dismantled us.

What interview did you watch?

Liddle had to meekly ask Sayers for permission to speak and then later Sayers shut him down from answering the only only question presented to him lol

Oh dear …. it’s not Richmond’s responsibility to give 2 flutes about Carlton’s review.

Carlton give their coach contracted for 2022 no support but Hardwick and Richmond do …. but yeah, what’s Hardwick doing calling Teague whilst he’s been eaten alive by his own club and the media to offer a potential lifeline …. when the review everyone has known the results of for 6-weeks hasn’t been handed down …. how disrespectful to Carlton’s very respectful review process.

I would hope that’s not the way the relationship runs. The President needs to have confidence in the staff employed at the club, and they should be empowered to do their job, not ask permission to speak. Sounds like an incredibly toxic culture, led from the top.
