Where we will we finish?

IMO all things being equal I reckon we will finish 2nd the Power come the end of the minor round. Would love to play them in a grand final if they could play a decent final to actually make the GF! ;)

I agree that ourselves and the Powder will fill the top two spots at the end of the minor round, much to the disgust of the rest of the nation. :)

Crows 1
Powder 2

because we will win the showdowns this year. While the Powder will choke their way out of contention once they hear that word "FINALS", the Crows will march onwards to their 3rd flag.

As it should be. :D

Good post.! I don't intend to get too carried away and I certainly hope we don't waste time and energy chasing top spot when there finals to be won. Or make a big deal about winning a minor round game and then lose finals.

I have previously stated that we should aim to win a minimun of 15 games for 2003. If we win 15 we are top 4.

If we can manage to win both showdowns or at least win all of our home games (and maybe another away match) we could secure the minor premiership with 16 - 18 wins. So I voted for minor premiership.

An achievable goal, but not a priority for me at the moment.

I'd be happy with a solid pre season where we play some positive football, followed by a 4 win start to the minor round.

If we can do that in the next 10 weeks I'd be a happy Jezza.

Good to see you factored in the "odd idiot element" there Kane.

Second for me. Even though a dissapointing start losing the first game you will rebound and finish 2nd H & A.

I can see a big improvement in the forward line with the duck holding a few marks which was lacking last year IMO.

Couldn't see you guys having such a horror run being shipped all over australia at the business end of the season although if you are drawn to play a vic team in a prelim the AFL in its wisdom will prolly schedule a final for NZ in a ground breaking move

Alright, well I voted for minor premiers.

Why? Because I think its highly possible that we can achieve this feat. Going from whats happened so far in pre-season etc, I get the feeling that our side has a lot of confidence, even right now. Now, I know this is the sorta stuff a whole heap of teams say at around this time of year, and I'm not saying that the other teams are wrong, but for us, we've got a real chance.

Last year, we were one of the top teams in terms of F50 approaches (if not the most successful in this category) but we weren't able to convert. That must have been frustrating for the players, esp the midfielders. But this year, its a different circumstance, as we have now have that much more stronger and potent forward line with Carey, Burns and even Welsh (after he's back into solid form). Looking from preseason, seeing these guys and how they are performing, I believe, is a huge confidence booster. I think this confidence is what will really improve our ladder position from last year.

I reckon we'll keep the ball rolling with this extra confidence and put that on the scoreboard and stats. I think this confidence is what is needed to overcome those that were above us on the ladder last year, (I'm really looking forward to see us trash Ports arse in the final round of the home and away seasons, and I also think we are now on par game wise with Brisbane), which as well will help us remain on top of the other top 8 teams.

I really believe our forwardline is going to be devestating this year:)Lets be realistic we cant expect Carey to kick a bag week in week out,I'd be happy with at least two a game if he kicks more good on him,Carey will take every teams best defender naturally, leaving easier opponents on Welsh,Burton,Stevens and Burns:) You then thorw in other goal kickers such as Mcleod:):):)Riccutto,Goodwin,Bode and Edwards we have alot of fire power:):)Our defence is very solid Hart,Smart,Bassett,McGregor,Bickley all combine well and bring the ball out quickly,if any team believes we are going to be a push over this year had better think again:eek: This will be the year iof the AFC all over the country we will dominate the opposition,Im not predicting a minor premiership, but it would be nice but a top four is almost for certian:D

So who voted that we will finish 9th? If you are going to vote against the norm is would be useful to provide your reasons. ie. Standup & be counted!

I voted for fourth. No real reason except to say that it's a "gut" feeling, and I don't think much will seperate 1-6 this year.

I said third using no real science; but Jeromes point is valid.

He said ...and I certainly hope we don't waste time and energy chasing top spot when there finals to be won. Or make a big deal about winning a minor round game and then lose finals.

I voted for 2nd as i think the Bears will still have a squad capable of going minor premiers especially if they get some extra home games via the vic clubs, as for the Paps i put them at 3rd - 5th but wouldn't say no to them missing the 8 anyway,

In my opinion we will probalby finish 2nd after the minor round. We have the final round at home which will be fantastic plus if we finish 2nd we are guaranteed a home final. 2 critical issues about last seasons campaign!

We of course will make the Grand Final :D and we will get our third premiership!

go you Crows!!!!

I've picked us to finish second.

I think Brisbane is odds on to finish top as they are virtually unbeatable at home. I think they have the greatest home ground advantage of any team. They play their major contenders at home, only travel to the west once to play Freo and of the teams they only play once, all the hard ones are at home and the easier ones away. I cannot see them losing more than 3 or 4 games during the minor round. I note they've been given an away game in the last minor round again for, I think, the 3rd year in a row. ( Meanwhile the Vic teams don't have to travel again in the last minor round ! ) Besides that, they've got a pretty good team although it will be hard for them to maintain the intensity for the third year running.

Having said all that, I still believe we can win the premiership as long as we have our share of luck ie no horrendous run of injuries during the season and no bad injuries in one match of the finals as happened against Collingwood

Cheers,

a.j.

I feel they crows will finish sixth.
I think it will go something like this..

The Crows will only win 3 of the first 9 games as they struggle for early season form due to some minor injuries to key players, and problems in the forward set up.

Media attention will vary between why the Crows picked up older players and what sort of pressure they are under

Suddenly everything will click, Ben Rutten will make a move to CHF Carey to the Goalsquare and Stevens to CHB the midfield will fire through the enthusiasm of Brent Reilly & the amazing tackling of Martin Matner(he will set a new Crows record for tackles in a game)

The Crows will steam home , but it won't be enough to make a top four spot

The Crows will then get a favourable finals matchup and proceed to the GF where anything can happen

Bit harsh with that 3 wins out of the first 9 games. I actually think we have a great chance to go 5-0 to open the season. Carey, Welsh and Bickley will all be fit for round 1 and even if they aren't I still think we will win more than 3 out of first 9 and go all the way to GF and then as you say anything can happen.:D
