Covid just stuck it's middle finger up to NSW.It has to be in Sydney if it isn't in Melbourne (unless COVID rises in Sydney again). I really don't see any reason to host it anywhere else.

Wont need to pay a cent for
the GF, at this rate gil the dill will be begging Adelaide or Perth to host it.
The only thing Sydney has over Perth is that ANZ can hold 80k people, which is irrelevant when the NRL grand final doesn't even sell out every year despite much cheaper tickets than the AFL grand final, and they only managed to get 60k people to turn up to watch the Swans v Giants derby final in 2016. Financially the AFL could charge far more for tickets in Perth and guarantee a sellout. From a purely football viewpoint the stadium has a poor surface and there's a reason that there hasn't been an AFL game played there for 4 years. It's well known that it has a poor atmosphere, and being rectangular doesn't help the case either. WA is a football state first and foremost, has a more suitable stadium for the game, makes more sense financially and the AFL could then get their wish of a twilight GF on the east coast but the game could be played in the day which would likely make for a better spectacle. It has to be in Sydney if it isn't in Melbourne (unless COVID rises in Sydney again). Both the Adelaide Oval and Optus are more aesthetically appealing and will hold sold out parochial crowds. Considering both states were the ones doing the heavy lifting with turning the game into an national competition, it would be disingenuous to blank them. You’d think come he’ll or high water it will be played at the MCG.
If not it should be Perth or Adelaide, two proper football states, isn’t that a no brainer?
The A/VFL won’t want to go down that path because it might actually do really well both on TV and at the ground, it will open up the discussion ‘why can’t we do this more often’?
They would rather stick it in a non football state because they simply won’t care too much either way.

I would hold no grudge against Adelaide deserving the right. Can't say the same if it was NSW or QLD.

Same issue with prison bars. Don’t give them a sniff....
Again is the Super Bowl held at the same stadium each year?
If the restrictions are still in place in Victoria it absolutely should be in either Perth or Adelaide. You’d think come he’ll or high water it will be played at the MCG.

Realistically, the Grand Final should only be at the MCG every second year anyway and every other year be played in a state that has an AFL presence.
Exactly. Victoria monopolising the GF is a joke. There’s been too much success interstate for the argument that it isn’t as popular to stand up anymore. Let’s face it, the majority of people attending are corporates, they’ll go anyway and anywhere. Then the members of respective clubs, then whoever can get a ticket. It’s pretty simple, if the GF was played in Adelaide between Brisbane and Geelong you’d still get a full crowd. If the restrictions are still in place in Victoria it absolutely should be in either Perth or Adelaide.

What I meant was that non Vic clubs have clearly proven their success in a national competition playing the GF at the G. From a revenue perspective it’ll still benefit the AFL if it’s played away from the G.it would be a success for the 'people' wouldn't it, however the world runs on $ - so not much will ever change.
